Anyone run a stick in 10.90?

I know its an outrageous thought. Several very competitive .90 racers don't use a throttle stop a few even footbrake, so it would be the hardest of the hard!

Have a 4 speed challenger that I think would be a lot of fun, just have to add weight, and etc.

I dont remember the guys name but there was a yellow Mustang 2 that ran in IHRA's 10.90 class. I know he won one National event and maybe two events (Presidents Cup at MIR for sure) when I was still working with IHRA. I thought is was cool that he did it with a manual trans. He might still be racing?

I can't remember his name, but there was a guy from the Phoenix area who ran a Mustang with a Lenco back in the early 90's in S/G. Also a friend of mine (John Campoy) ran a Vega with a Lenco. I don't think either one ever won a national, but both were competitive.

I've gone some rounds in S/G while footbraking, but that was with the old true 0.400 tree and incandescent bulbs (versus the 0.370 tree and LED), and I seemed to have an ability to see the start of the incandescent glow better than others.

I saw a blue stick shift Maverick taking names at the VMP NHRA Div'l race in the late '90s.

The blue Maverick is Ray Gottry, he's still racing it in D-2,and he can row throw the gears with that thing. I always loved to watch him leave the line on the mat.

Yea i have a video of him running at bristol TN in the late 90s. It was very unique to see him running a stick in that class

A few years back i had a Mustang with a 4 speed Lenco i ran in S/C. What a fun time. Sold it and went the dragster route. Live & learn. should've never made that move. Had WAY more run racing that than the dragster. I even finished 6th in point w/ Midwest Super Comp Series that year.

Mike, was that Vega burgandy, & sponsored by Miller Beer? I remember such a Lenco equipped S/G Vega in Div.6 in the early 1990`s. Dean Peterson, from BC currently runs a 460/glide 67 Mustang in S/G, but his old "Boss Hoss" S/G Mustang had a 351Cleveland/Nash 5 speed.
Also, Div.6 S/ST racer Bob Landery (sp) used to run a 4 speed in his Road Runner, although it had an automatic last time I saw it..

Yup, that would be the one. John and I used to talk about swapping cars for a few passes (mine was faster, but his looked like a lot more fun to drive), but we never got around to it.

My dad runs a 67 camaro sbc jerico in S/ST and does very well with weight and timing. He won KCIR divisional a few years ago and would have won the strange award at Topeka national event 2 years ago ,but no sticker. He doesn't race much ,but out of the 5 or 6 div and nat events we've been too he has won something. The car is awesome with a stick and a pro tree! It prolly picks the wheels up 4 or 5 feet in the air with no bars and the timing set where it sholud be on a 28x10.50 tire!

Here are some pics and video!

If I remember right, there was a black 67-68 camaro that ran S/ST in Division 1 in 95' or 96'. The car was out of New York and I think it said something like Abracadabra Racing on the side. I remember them going a few rounds. I do believe there was also a Roadrunner that ran Div. 1 briefly in 96' or 97' that was a 4-speed car.

Put a delay box in it and leave off of a button. That's what I did in a Super Stock B Stick Shift Corvette. You'll need the delay leaving off of a button.

I ran in Hotrod in the 80's & 90's with my green 57 Belair. Ran fairly well . Had a #1 Qual. & was down to 11 cars at the Fall nat's in Bristol. Lot's of fun.
