On the brakes !

Looking at et and mph at Houston it looks like some headsup races are being run to who ever is ahead at the 1000 ft mark wins in an effort to for go HP on Monday. Anyone else notice ?

Surprised?

Anyone with an old school car is saving their combination these days. If they're smart.

I refer it to THAT SUCKS, BORING.

Why not just change from 1320 to 1000, oh I know, then they will just run to the 880.

I think "smart fellers" (say it fast 5 times) is more appropriate.

I guess they leared there lesson at Baton Rouge.
But its too late .
They wacked a few combos and there is no saving them.
My combo is one of them.

Not Surprised Alan, Just did not notice it at first. I remember this being done years ago mostly by the Mopar contingent like at Indy.

Ever notice that a certain Mopar racer in the late 70's early 80's seemed to have to change rear end gears often after braking (yea) after winning class. The Mopar guys raced to 1000 feet. Oh yea, he raced a Chevy at the Gators this year after a long absence.

Once somebody pounds your combo into submission you'll understand why "smart racers" do this!!!

James, I believe you meant Belle Rose, since Baton Rouge is IHRA!!

Mr Frito I am well aware of who you speak, Terry Earwood and I got into it after I set the SS/EA record in 72 but that was when we ran off the records. Thats what people mean when they say setting a record meant something.

Actually, the most famous picture of someone going through the lights with all four locked up was a 69 camaro which could hardly be seen through all the tire smoke, and it was this picture that caused the NHRA to take action.
