Ohio Valley Class Racers association
Is there any interest in starting a racers association for stock and super stock in KY, TN, IN, ILL, MO and OH? Right now Bowling Green has 3 combo races scheduled and Ohio Valley has 8. I f we could find a couple of more racetracks to host 3 each we could use 3 of Ohio Valley's and the 3 at Bowling Green and have a 12 race series. I am doing this not to get a new job but to gauge interest from racers. If you are interested e-mail me at gph.hill@insightbb.com or let me know on the class racer site.

Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
Greg,
I'm sure there is plenty of interest. I know many are talking about "staying close to home." The big problem here in TN is a lack of tracks. Music City is practically impossible to get the big trucks in to. We'd have gone to the race they had there last year, but it's so dangerous to take the truck on that road. Not sure what other options are possible. I'm sending you a PM, give me a call, I'll do everything I can to help. |
Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
Alan, I was thinking more like maybe racetracks in S Ohio or S Indiana, or even in S MO or ILL. That way we could attract racers from a larger area. I'm basically thinking Nashville, Louisville, Indy, Cincinatti, Dayton, Columbus, and St. Louis and the surrounding areas.

Greg,
That's fine. I think you are correct. |
Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
Greg,
Count me in. I would really like to see more Sunday race day races. That way I can work OT Saturday and still afford to race. Maybe Edgewater? |

I don't have my class car or my bracket car ready yet. I'd be interested in doing what I could. I believe, if, there are going to be races, racers are going have to band together. I agree with Terry on the Sunday races. I too, work alot of Saturdays. I'm roughly two hours from Ohio Valley, two hours from Edgewater, two hours from Muncie, pretty much two or more hours from everywhere. Correct me if I'm wrong but Bowling Green allows IHRA cars to race just like Ohio Valley? Robert Swartz |
Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
Greg, you know you will have our support if at all possible that should result in 10 or so cars

Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association

Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
Greg,
You may want to talk to either Rodney or Dave Himes at Muncie Dragway. I have had discussions with both of them about doing just what you are talking about. Don |
Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
You might be able to work something out in Columbus at National Trails. I was at their awards banquet Saturday and found out about a couple of Stk/SS combo races coming up this year. I will PM you the contact info of the track contact and promoter of the races. Hope this helps.

Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
Yepper we have 2 SS/Stock events already on the schedule for Columbus,
May 30th & Oct 3rd Jeff Ross (Ross Racing, IHRA Fame) is heading this up and hopes to pick up more tracks. I have agreed to run them for him. I'll have more info as it comes in. |
Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
I'll mark the Columbus dates down.
What about a race Friday night at the Clay City Pro-Am? |
Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
I hope to attend the events in Columbus. Make sure and post a reminder about these. NHRA and IHRA are becoming less and less attractive.
|
Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
It would be great if the race dates were not on top of each other. We will get to race more and the tracks will have more cars. We also need to look at an eigth mile tracks for races.
Track prep is going to be important. |
Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
Guys it looks like there is sufficent interest to go forward with this. I don't have power right now and am on Andrew's laptop. I will be back on when we have power.

Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
Will be including IHRA pure stock at these races?I will try to attend can barely make K/S with my F/PS

I've been wanting to attend combos at Ohio Valley, Bowling Green.we had wondered if we could get a few combos around maybe @ Clay City or London Dragway London, Ky.I'm will go anywhere time & money will allow[both been short for awhile] to race stock, super stock.I try to watch for dates and willing to help if something you need. Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
My thinking would be both NHRA and IHRA cars. I am without power right now but I am going to work on some race dates and let everyone know. Does anyone know the Ohio Valley schedule yet? all they have on their website is 2008.

Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
Greg, Ohio valley schedule is not put out until the car show in a couple of weeks but for sure the first saturday in april is usually the first and the weekend of halloween is the last.

Re: Ohio Valley Class Racers association
Greg,
I talked to Rodney Williams at Muncie Dragway this evening. He is the Marketing Manager for the track. He has interest in hosting a race or two. This is the home track of our Div 3 Stock Champ John Kiehn. Rodneys number is 765-749-7640. The track is under new ownership since last year. lots of improvements have been and the track hooks like a beatch Thanks Don |
