Re: Engine Builder????
For any LS engines stock or super stock, I'd call Tim Sloan.
|
Re: Engine Builder????
Parsons and Myers 937-228-7278
|
Re: Engine Builder????
I would stick with a chevy builder like ; Woody, Parsons & Myers, Bud Rowe, Tilberg,Warren
and many others... But if you have a Ford or Mopar, go to guys who's specialty are Ford & Mopar.... I am not saying they can't do others engines, but this is what they are noted for... Anyway I guess it has alot to do with where you live ? LOL |
Re: Engine Builder????
Woodro Josey! Gets my Vote....................................

Re: Engine Builder????
Bub Whitaker.

Re: Engine Builder????
If you could get John Gulius to do it, he would be my pick
|
Re: Engine Builder????
i would go to joey wilkes only if you want to go fast and be legal and be treated right.steve

Re: Engine Builder????
I still think Carrol Shelby, at least on paper. All those other engine builders cannot dictate what was original.

Re: Engine Builder????
Paul Cambria qualified #1 at the fall Rockingham race this year
with an LS1 engine built by Tim Sloan, and also Monty Bogan won class at Indy this year with a Sloan LS1 as well. |
Re: Engine Builder????
I might be wrong but I think Monty Joe who drives for Bo Kenney, both those guys use Patterson Power and were using Patterson Poer when they dominated IHRA Top Stock towards the end of the class as well as when they started in NHRA. Could be wrong but I think I saw a Patterson Power sticker on their car.

Re: Engine Builder????
Bub, can I bring that quote to tear down this?? Happy holidays.

Re: Engine Builder????
Bobby, I don't think that Bogan made it through teardown at Indy. I think Wilkes won A/SA.
|
Re: Engine Builder????
Imagine that!

Re: Engine Builder????
I heard that the manifold he had was the reason he didn't pass.
|
Re: Engine Builder????
imagine that Larry Hill's wrong again. Monty's stocker (which the intake was wrong, and was the one that was on the car when Bo purchased it from Wilkes...) got tossed at the scales in A/SA. But Monty won SS class and passed tear down with out ANY issues. Wilkes got over on Bo, when Bo purchased the car. And since Wilkes couldnt run with Monty at INDY, he said something about the intake. Sorry Bo, i defend Hawk when there bassing him also.

Re: Engine Builder????
I would go with Tim Sloan also. His reputation speaks for its self.
|
Re: Engine Builder????
I agree with Peter & Jeremy...my vote also goes to Woodro Josey. My reason is simple, he's the first person to take one of those engine/car combos to a national event and become No. 1 qualifier! Furthermore, it's his finding of the tuning base by which the Accel Calmaps were once famous for, that created the flood of others to join the fuel injected stocker era...over and beyond that are the other companies that quickly developed their own versions of Accel's Calmap. By the way, I'm still using one of them, and although there was no baseline established for my 2800 V6, I'm sure that Woodro could bring it up to snuff just as easily as he did his own car. Ask the Emmons brothers too, because if my memory is right, one of them (at least), is racing a fuel injected stocker that was prepped by one Woodro Josey???

Re: Engine Builder????
Todd,
Sorry about the shot on Carrol Shelby, I just could not resist as I have read all the complaining about his "paper" cars on the forums. Personally, I really do not care what people say is legal or not. If NHRA allows it I guess it is OK. As far as Mopar giving assistance to racers, it has only been for larger displacement motors, thay really could give a rats *** about a 273 2bbl. Though I recall a SS/AH car operated by a father and son that put a bowtie emblem on their dashboard of their Mopar in retaliation for their displeasure. There are a number of quality engine builders out there, how one works with his customers would seem important to me. Ron Kendzior, who used to build stocker motors way back when did mine and I am extremely pleased. That was like in 1989. I have heard alot of good things about Woodro Josey and alot of the other engine builders referred to on this thread. So, go ahead and pick one, just be carefull that it is legal in NHRA's eyes, or at least Glendora's viewpoint. My next engine builder is going to be from a galaxy far far away, I just love the principal of magnetic molecule transportation within itself. Ron Ortiz U/SA |
Re: Engine Builder????
i would go with bub
he did the engine in the world champs car does big block fords and mopars big and small |
Re: Engine Builder????
Lil Duane; You are in luck, Bub Whitaker builds a great "Bracket Motor".
|
Re: Engine Builder????
Yes Bub Whitaker does an awesome S/SS engine. But we do ours in house. And i bet that if i leaned on my Stocker engine i could run as far under the index in super stock that you can go in stock. One day, ill have my 73 bodied car together and run F/G/H in NHRA, but for now ill stick with my IHRA stocker NHRA super stocker.

Re: Engine Builder????
Gary McGlasson does a very good job of building engines in Albuquerque , New Mexico . 1-505-865-0059. He know how to make those 427 stockers fly ask Bobby De Armond. Builds some pretty quick Super Stockers .

Hey Bub,
I know you build a great stocker motor. I saw what you did for my neighbor and my little Polish friend from Nashville! The comment was more about crate motors not being "stock" motors. Thanks, Larry |
Re: Engine Builder????
sorry Larry i dont have a crate engine, its a legal stocker engine

You've spent so much time up Hawk’s sphincter you’re starting to asphyxiate yourself and hallucinate. It’s time to come out and get some fresh air. You’ve said many less than brilliant things on classracer, but your previous statement is by far the best. Thanks for the laughs! |
