Is that the front part of the Cal Tracks (in front of the rim) hitting the track?

From Moparts.com from someone who said they knew Paul:

was a M/T radial slick that blew ....

he told me M/T took the tire and is shipping back to the factory to see why..or what happened...

the slick was almost new also...and M/T replaced both of them on the car..

Ouch! Nice car though - I like it!! 68 or 69? Marker lights are missing....

FYI, Loose is as in your shoe string is loose, lose is as in you lose a race (or a tire). So technically its Losing a tire during launch ;) But technically it did come loose from the rim :D

It is a 1968.
68 is the only year for Dart GTS to have horizontal stripe option.
It has rear marker lights by the way Angela. Little tiny round ones.
Front fenders must hae been replaced.

Ok - I can see the ones in the rear now that you point it out. Didn't know about the stripe option. We have a 68, two actually, one complete one (street car) and one carcuss (sp?) - should be a race car someday.

Apparently, from what I've been told, the tire split down the sidewall, from the bead nearly to the tread surface. It may have separated from the rim after that but the sidewall blew out first. Paul wasn't hurt since the whole incident occurred on the starting line. If he'd been downtrack, things could have been a lot worse.

Hopefully it didn`t mess up the rim too badly.

Probably no worse than his linens! Imagine the cleaning bills associated with such an event next year when the "fire-proof pants" rule goes into effect!

Thanks Angela. This site desperately needed that. Now, how about whining, winning, etc?

Your and you're.......

Re: Loosing a Tire During Launch!!!

I get confused myself - had to ask Scott the other day when to use sale or sell and brought or bought. Another thing I've noticed - a lot of people get their symbols in the wrong place - they'll do this..... was'nt instead of the correct way of wasn't.

Anyhoo, Lose and Loose seem to be the most common thing I see racers misspelling - for obvious reasons.

I just point it out so noone ends up carrying this error from a message board over to the DMV....

....true story...

Angela,

Maybe the DMV wouldn't let him put a question mark on it for him.

I saw one yesterday on a Mustang. What LS1

the rear marker light is in the wrong spot.the car maybe a 67 dart with a misplaced place light

Re: Loosing a Tire During Launch!!!

The sidewall of the tire gave out / separated.

For the Dart guys. The car is a 68 340 AVS and it has no marker lights at all.
