Evan J. Smith / Racing Technology
I just finished reading Evan's feature in the 10/10/08 issue of National Dragster..It takes an incredible amount of heavy low hanging sackage to lay it all out for everyone to read. It's one thing to do it here, where mostly forum stalkers and 10 foot tall bullet proof armchair quarterbacks sitting at their keyboard will put their ".02" in ..to be your own worst enemy, it takes a certain kind of person...With that being said, a man's character is all he's got...I'd like to personally praise Evan on his. If he was ever in need, he can surely depend on the people that are able to realize his character.

Re: Evan J. Smith / Racing Technology
Robert -- I agree 110 % .............at the end of the day all you have is your character .He really did lay it all out for everyone didn't he ..........
PS-- Robert -- who is that in your avatar ? ? ? |

Re: Evan J. Smith / Racing Technology
evan took it like a man... i was right beside him with MJ's head when ryck measured that valve...
mind you he wasnt happy, but... well... anyway he was very forthright in the article, and i commend him on it and he was tossed on a measurable issue... not "i dont like the looks of that head" jack mccarthy and thats a very fast ford even taking into consideration all the et a .006 big valve gives you :) |

I always said that if you make a mistake to live up to it, don't pass the blame.
Great article Evan. It's usually the first thing I look for when I get my N.D. |
Re: Evan J. Smith / Racing Technology
How about Doug Linke writing a on the run in the ND. I would love to here about his dq and his thoughts on how to prevent a mistake on his part. I'm sure it would help others not to make the same mistake.

Re: Evan J. Smith / Racing Technology
I have to agree with Bobby on that. I always look for Evan’s article first in ND. He is always honest and insightful with his writing. I had the opportunity to meet him recently, and he is even more “honest” in person

Re: Evan J. Smith / Racing Technology
Thanks to everyone, I really appreciate the nice words, especially Robert's eloquent vernacular. I really do enjoy the sport and the people. Believe me, it was not a fun story to write, but I learned a lot from it. Anyone who was in the barn that day knows it was really stressful for me. The Conte's, John Gray, Bruce Noland, Eddie Bednaz, Jim Roberts, the Brew Crew, Jeff Bardekoff and a few others really kept me in check that day. I also have to thank Kevin McKenna and Phil Burgess of National Dragster, who allowed me the chance to voice what happened in such a big forum.
