Thanx the reply but any certain model or whas it a hit or miss on what Chevy installed them on--I mean should I look for cewrtain kinds of cars like Z28 or what??? Comp 387

We had a 1983 Z28 305 crossfire injection that had a fiberglass factory hood . The hood was SMC/composite and had functional opening flaps option LU5. (honest )

I have had a functional fiberglass hood from an 83 Z.Much lighter! I know some came functional some not. The same car also had an alum bumper support. If you are really looking and are in the Chicago area, check this out on craig's list.

I think those hoods (aluminum) also came on 82 / 83 4 cylinder cars but had no fresh air............

A buddy of mine races one of these bracket cars. Pulled his Camaro out of a field. has a fiberglass hood. Motor was trashed and he put a 350 crate motor in it.

the stock fiberglass hood weighs 12 pounds less than the stock steel hood

In 1984 i bought my wife a new z/28 from reedman auto in langhorne penn.the car to my amazement had a fiberglass hood,i realized it the first time i opened the hood wish i had one now!!!
