Factory Dodge Challenger race car
Here is an updated video:
http://allpar.powertvonline.com/vide...l.php?mId=6406 Anyone here plan on getting one? Or already have one on order? Some Rumors - They will have no VINs just Mopar part number because they don't want them to end up on the street. - They will be pretty much complete cars, carpet, headliner, door pannels but no sound deadening or creature comforts. - They supposedly will have solid rear axles like the Jeep Cherokees - Lift off Hoods - Lightweight seats - Lightweight brakes - 800lbs lighter than the factor Challengers - Hearing 2 different stories on a few things like I've heard that they will be startable so you could just put on a set of headers and slicks and go racing and I've also heard they won't have fuel or exhaust systems because they know they will be immediately modified. - They will not be carbon fiber bodies (same bodies as the factory cars) - I've hear they are going to require or strongly encourage people to put retro paint schemes on them. - I've heard they will cost $15k to $40k - I've also heard that only active Stock and Super Stock racers will be able to buy them (at least at first) but that's just rumors and probably started by the Stock and SS racers.. but it has some merit since they are supporting the sport and Mopar they've earned some privileges. - I've heard they wanted them to be in people hand by January 08 but that didn't happen, obviously. |

Re: Factory Dodge Challenger race car
The 2008's are all automatics. The 2009+ cars have an available Tremec TR6060 6-speed and limited slip diff.
2009- SRT's 6.1L HEMI 425HP (auto + stick) R/T Auto 5.7L HEMI 370 HP R/T Stick 5.7L HEMI 375 HP SE Auto 3.5L V6 250HP stick cars are "super track pack" and come w/ 3.92 gears |
Re: Factory Dodge Challenger race car
sure hope the new camaro comes with a stick..
|
Re: Factory Dodge Challenger race car
As far as the challenger I would have done it different.
2008's come only with a stick,no autos. 2009's come only with a stick,no autos. |
Re: Factory Dodge Challenger race car
A Vendor that I do work with showed up today with his day old Challanger. What an awsome car. The fit and finish on the car is not like the Mopar of old. The paint is show quality, just a beautiful car. It even has the battery in the trunk to start with. People in the parking lot would stumble when they noticed it. Chrysler has a hit. It even came with a $2300 tax on the invoice for not being fuel efficient. BTW he got his spot on the order list 2 years ago. But it was worth it.

Re: Factory Dodge Challenger race car
Pretty close. But Troy are you offering to sell these cars? These cars will be sold direct by the factory to the end user. Some service will handle the deal in Detroit, but it is a direct sale.

Re: Factory Dodge Challenger race car
Jeff,
I believe the service you are refering to is in fact "mopar supercenter" at www.moparsupercenter.com, but maybe I am wrong. I think Troy just did a cut and paste. Bill |

Re: Factory Dodge Challenger race car
what about the little guy? will we get a chance at these or with all the collectors get them and resell them on Ebay.. It would be great if there was a lottery on these cars instead of going to the guys with the most $$ or strings that they pulled.

Re: Factory Dodge Challenger race car
Mark, when I talked to John Donato at Chrysler, he wants the cars to go to racers that will race them. I'll send you an e-mail.

You posted that the 5.9 Magnum will be an available engine option in this race-only car. Is that true, and can you elaborate on the application (class???) Thanks for any information, Bill |

Thanks, Steve |
Re: Factory Dodge Challenger race car
Mopar had one at the Hemi Reunion last weekend in Ohio. It was the "Judy Lilly" car they ran at Denver. John Donato wouldn't pull the hood off or the scoop plug. He said that Jim Hale and Mike Cotten have looked the car over and under pretty well. Randy Hopkins was checking out the car on Saturday. I was interesting in getting one of them, but after talking to John, I'll pass.

It's not much of a secret to run in the high 9's or low 10's in today's racing |
