Colin Wigle

Guys, I see that Colin Wogle was ruuning his 05 Mustang in GT/AA, does anyone know what engine combo he was running? Most Ford's I have seen in the past that run in that class run either the 428CJ or the 351 Cleveland 285/324 combo.

Good looking car that ran well this past weekend.

Its probably been 25 or more years since that engine has been run in S/S too. Glad to see Colin is making the effort. Best of luck to him in his effort.

Thanks Mike, looks like he is on his way to challenging those small block chevys for supremacy in that class.

Youre right, because the Ford guys are smart, they never get hit and all the small block chevy guys are fighting it out with each other and getting hit every review. The 300-315 just got another 5hp

Hell they probably should have got more than that, those damn 350's are killer combos.

Stephen,

That all mighty 300/315 is actually facotred to 327 HP now. Damn, If I had a little more money I might be able to compete heads up with the 350 Camaro's that run in SS/HA and SS/IA. Now if they only do something with those 327's that are hauling a#$.

Don't work on your own combo !!
Get NHRA to factor the guys that do work hard on their cars...:-)

John...Smitty did not say he did not work hard on his combo...he was talking about if he had more money to spend in the car. There is a big difference in the availability and cost of Chevy parts versus a Ford Cleveland engine.

If I got my junk to perform anywhere near where the 327's and 350's perform my combo would be rated near 340hp just because it's a Ford. There are only a few cars running the Cleveland combo, tell me when you have seen any of them number 1 qualifier or better yet top 10. All of the engines avaliable for my car are rated at 305, 313, 324, and 330. I am already at a disadvantage weight wise because of the body style and then you tack on the HP difference between the Chevy's and the Ford's and it can be substantial. I will take what I can get, I am not taking anything from those guys who have them money and work hard to make their car's go fast but the field should be level. I will not hide my car or run from anyone, I will race within my means and if the guys got me covered by .6 tenths oh well.
My point is this, those combos are killer, they continulely dominate classes and the way the rules are set they should be factored, that is all I am saying. Thanks for the motivation however to work on my combo because that is what we plan to do.

Smitty, those combos arent that killer, the reason they are fast is because there are so many of them out there and the combo has been running for 30 years. There arent alot of Fords out there compared to the Chevys. But if you took the two combinations and stacked them equally, the Ford should be rated higher.

Under what reasoning? When you compare the Chevy engine, with a lower deck block, lighter rotating assembly, better parts availability, the advantage is for the Chevy. Do not justify the Cleveland advantage on the cylinder head ports and valve size only.

Yeah the chevy guys have dip****s running it out on red lights! Stupid. They will have a tough time @ Indy rated at 327 hp.

I think GTAA is going to be WAY COOL! I also heard of a 320HP BBC going together! ;)

The killer Ford motor is the 460/300HP. What is the 429SCJ rated? Where is the Mopar low compression 440 in GTAA? ;)
