Maybe now is the time to think about another US Class Nationals??
Commander Alex Denyshenkio are you up for the task again in 2008[:-confused2-:]

Great idea...as I didn't have a car to compete at the 1st!
Heck, this might even get Dave Young out from behind the computer. See ya in Staging! |
Maybe when people start supporting Association races, Combos, Shootouts, IHRA, NSCA, and other existing events and organizations that are out there bending over backwards for class racing, who end up having to bend the other way.
People race NHRA for the brand name. People choose to spend twice as much for exactly the same shirt at a high-end department store as they would at WalMart, but wouldn't be caught dead admitting that they shop at WalMart. The US Class Nationals was positively one of the greatest class racing events in history. Unless you have the participation that they did at the first one, it's a not big winner. I would bre very interested in going to another "Class Nationals" ...................Whaddya' say Alex?

I do not think that Alex is ready or wants to take the lashing, abuse and accusations from others like he did after the first event.

If another one of these is held I will be glad to have it at Piedmont Dragway at a very reduced rental rate.

...and with less than a week to go before the pre-entry deadline, I have yet to receive a SINGLE entry for the 32-car S/SS field paying incredible round money *and* a shot at $7,500 and an Iron Man trophy on a weekend where there are no competing races anywhere in the region. C'mon guys! I got a verbal commitment from a couple of guys, but we need entries.
http://www.staginglight.com/customers/doorslammer07.jpg I had given consideration this winter to trying to put together a US Class Nationals type race, but with the poor turnout at regional Combos and not having the money to back up the race myself if it wasn't supported well enough, I canned the idea. I thought a great paying shootout race would be easy to fill up. If it's not what you guys want to run for, we need your comments to find out what you *do* want! No body wants an iron man, Michael. By now you must be able to see that IHRA events and the iron man cannot hold a candle to winning a Wally at an NHRA event.

Oh boy, here we go again...
With that said, I will agree that my desire for an Iron Man isn't as great as a full-size Wally. I just don't think the trophy is as pretty. But, that said, I'm very jealous when I go over my friend's houses that do have an Iron Man, and I would proudly display in on my trophy shelf along with my other prized possessions. My guess is that Smokey doesn't own an Iron Man either... Jason Oldfield S/G & S/ST 1838 |
Beard, The only reason you haven't gotten an entry for me is that the car still isnt together. And I dont want to come to a race like that without knowing how well it will run.

Okay. When you win the event, Spectre, you can elect not to take the Iron Man trophy home with you. There's probably not too many S/SS Combo type events that award either an Iron Man *OR* a Wally. The Ultimate Doorslammer race is not an IHRA event. The trophy is simply made available through an IHRA Member Track program, much like NHRA's local Wally races. But you knew all of that, because of your massive amounts of knowledge that you have already impressed us with elsewhere on this board. LOL! I have a couple of Wallys, in addition to numerous Iron Man trophies. Which ones mean how much to me? It matters HOW each was won. Continue being laughable for us, Smokey. Missed ya the last couple of days! Well, not really... I was racing all weekend. Do they give Wallys to keyboard jockeys?
