Southern S/ss Association
Thanks to all of the racer responses for the upcoming S/SS race @ lakeland dragway in Fl. Although there has been some personnel changes @ the track , this has no effect or bearing on the quality and performance of the track or the racing operation. The may 25th race entry list is growing everyday. We are now @ between 50 & 60 entries if everyone who responded attends. The S/SS Association will be formed@ this race , so please plan to attend even if you are not racing. Now is your chance to have a say in how the rules and format of the race will be run.All officers will be voted on as well. I would like to compile a list of names before the race so we can have a mailing list. please contact by phone or email or private message.
good luck in 08 and looking forward to seeing you at the races. |
Re: Southern S/ss Association
Guys, we really need to support this! This could be a great chance to organize a great series of races and have a lot of fun doing it! We had a super time at our first race. A laid back fun event. I hope everyone who has committed to come will do so. I promise you won't regret it! Oh yeah, and Lakeland really hooks! Hope to see you all there. Jim

Re: Southern S/ss Association
all races to be a one day deal, 5 tracks so far. no schedule yet since we have not formed the association yet. every track just said yes and let them know so we can plan the races. there is much to do after we form the assoc. however so far things are sailing along quite rapidly.

Re: Southern S/ss Association
I also like the cost of the entry fee, very affordable.
|
Re: Southern S/ss Association
They are also running two bracket races.
|
Re: Southern S/ss Association
smitty,
thank you, this is the type of enthusiasm we like to see. we are doing a bracket 1 & 2 as filler for the class race. that way there is no down time and the crowd gets to see racing all day long.I can use all the help i can get that day. the lakeland track has some very capable and willing personnel , however they are not experienced with class racing but are very eager to learn.again, i cannot believe how much response we have had and i look forward to seeing each one of you. racers be prepared for interviews and pics as well as an autograph sessions. we have a new drag racing publication that is going to handle all pics, interviews etc.as well as the newsletters for the association. guys , your time has come to get the recognition and star treatment that each of you deserve. |

Re: Southern S/ss Association
Jim, How come you want a bracket race in the middle of a stk/superstock race? Are you foming a new Assc for S/SS or looking to duplicate NHRA?Why not do a pit vehicle and or tow vehicle race. Just my opinion,But I really dont want to hear nopi 4cyl cars when trying to hold a meeting or race just my thoughts, cell 813-363-5388 Thanks, SEE YA SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY Scott helmns 2540 Q/SA

Re: Southern S/ss Association
scott, the bracket race is filler for the combo show, we are not being charged for track rental or expenses by the track, the bracket race helps the track by increasing the head count , we are by no means trying to be nhra or ihra, this race is put on so we can form the association, you make a very good point , and that is why everyone will have their say and we all will vote on it.as for the 25th race i had to do something and that format seemed to make everyone happy. the track is advertising on the radio and newspapers and mailing the flyers. I think that was a very good jesture on their part. looking forward to seeing you on the 25th.

Re: Southern S/ss Association
I will ask again, Why is there a non electronics Stock Super Stock class & an electronics Stock Super Stock class? Can some one explain, I just dont understand. I guess Im confused or not reading it right or something. I just want to know the difference between the two. Trevor Weiss
