Original Hemi Cuda Info.......
Well like lightweight said in his thread just start a new one for the Cudas.
There seems to be some great historians here, so I thought since we have so much Dart info here why not complete the history by adding the Cudas. I feel like so many of the Hemi guys back then played with both. Who knows maybe while looking at info on the Cudas we might trip across something to help lightweight with his quest on the history of his car. So post up what you got. Back in the late seventy's and early eighty's I use to see Bob Reed and his Cuda running around down here in Florida. |
Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......
Good idea, I hope it brings out the same amount of valuable information that the Dart info site has produced.

First one I ever saw, therefore, my favorite:
Listed as #33 sold: http://lakelandraceway.com/images/lil_super_cuda.jpg Beautiful candy red (I think, a long time ago) with gold leaf. http://img3.uploadhouse.com/fileuplo...a2c05ad569.jpg |

Stewart Pomeroy Cuda. I believe this was an ex-S&M Cuda. He had several ex-S&M cars, I sort of lose track of all the cool cars he owned. I think he said this was taken at the Oldsmar track on the north end of Tampa Bay.

Another Super Cuda photo. It looks like the R6 red that my 1969 Barracuda is. I am not sure if they had R6 in 1968.

One of my favorite drivers was Judy Lilly. She took the time to talk to a young kid at the Bradenton test session circa 1976. I took off work on day to drive across the Skyway bridge to go see the Mopars racing/testing. I wish they still had those test sessions. All the big guns where there. Judy was very friendly to a kid straight out of HS.

Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......
I grew up in St. Pete but never went to Oldsmar when it was active. Robert Fulco took me by there a couple of years ago and it's now a park. The track surface was still there, narrow and bumpy from the looks of it. Bradenton opened up about the time I got my first car, so I went there instead. I swear I walked past Stewart's Duster (ex-Mopar Missile) at Bradenton once circa 1974 and never knew what I was looking at. The Nelson Des Champs name didn't mean anything to me. Only years later when he showed me photos of the car I thought, boy that car looks a lot like the Missile. Then he told me it was!

Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......
That's awsome, a friend of mine over on abodiesonly is a huge fan of the missile and has built an incredible Hemi car to pay tribute to the missile. He has created the ghost of a missile. His name is Hemi Denny.
I need to figure out how to post some pics using this I pad. |

Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......
does anyone know of a '68 Hemi 'cuda found in Wilson, NC? i don't know if it was a real one or not but there was a former racecar that sat in a backyard in that area for years and then it disappeared.

April 1968 (Cecil County Drag-O-Way)
One the earliest tests with the 68' Hemi Barracuda. At the time, the 68' Hemi Barracuda was 'not yet' legal for NHRA SS/B or SS/BA. http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/...1&d=1368385490 |
Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......

Hope we can hear from some past and current BO29 owners/crews.
Nothing says it better than "first hand" knowledge |

I have a shot of the Cuda, after the sale and repaint, and it still has the #784 on the rear quarter windows. We ran it in the NASCAR ULTRA STOCK circuit that year. |
Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......
Now we're getting some where, Jackarnew do you have any idea where that car is now, or who owns it.

Don Grotheer,
Switched from the 4-Speed in 1968, to the Automatic in 1969. http://media-cache-is0.pinimg.com/55...03ddec0f47.jpg |
Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......
wasn't the first car from Sox and Martin received by them incomplete and only partially converted?
|
Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......
I have the magazine article some where that shows the car being built using parts from another donor car. I am not sure if either car was an original hemi car.
|
Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......
I'll go with what Jack Werst said.
Jack got the the 'second' built BO29, right after Sox & Martin got the first car. The first cars were partially completed, and were not 100% Soup-to-Nuts done. |
