We are a small number of cars but I would like to remain in Super Stock.

I believe the clutchless 5 speeds are a tenth quicker then any automatic. Just my experience. At the same weight.

Ed, Thanks for doing all the "leg work" to get these ideas on the table. We all will have to see where they go at NHRA's end. I agree that a lot of this could be applied by NHRA at no cost. Someone brought up the cost to them for Teardowns...valid point. I for one would be willing to pay a reasonable fee at teardown...maybe $50.00. to go through teardown and be certified as legit. Maybe the $300-500 they would collect would be enough so they do not resent the time involved. Again thanks for your efforts!!

Suggested this to IHRA.
Create an efficient quick Certification process...!
Develop a Mobile Certification Vehicle and/or select Fixed Centers to meet at.
Schedule a Teardown Date on a non race day where everyone can meet.

Make it systematic and quick.
Start with Chassis and Safety.

Engine Teardown: Pull Engine and Trans.
Put on a Framed Pallet to work on efficiently.
Assemble and reinstall.
Allow other racers to help each other.

If something needs changing to pass, fix and certify.
Sometimes the part will require machining or needing a tool.
Identify those businesses ahead of time to help.

Later in the year if a part has to be replaced. Check and recertify.

Certified cars will make cursory inspections a breeze and more relaxing race weekends.

Allows more racers to set National Records for bragging rights.

Like the idea of paying a teardown fee to help pay for trained specialists.
Which seems to be lacking based on racer feedback.
Do once a year and get it over with.

Dan
