No,,,,,,,,on the 68' Barracuda 440's,,,,,
Chrysler Performance did not put one together. As for the Rockville Center car,,,,,since the 1968 Springnationals were at Englishtown, and Rockville Center, New York was not that far away,,,,,,,,, maybe the SS/EA entrants list from that event would be more helpful. I think it was a Tom Wilson out of New Jersey who got the car,,,,,,,,,???? pc |

Ed,,
1968 SS/EA Class Competitors; 1968 Dodge Dart GTS 440/375HP,,,,,,,,,#3208 lbs. = 8.55 wt/hp (note A) 1968 Camaro SS 396 396/325HP,,,,,,,,,,#3306 lbs. = 10.17 wt/hp (note B) 1968 Camaro SS 396 396/350HP,,,,,,,,,,,#3318 lbs. = 9.53 wt/hp (note B) 1968 Chevelle SS 396 396/375HP,,,,,,,,,,#3567 lbs. = 9.51 wt/hp (note C) 1968 Cobra-Jet Mustang 428/335HP,,,,,,#3267 lbs. = 9.75 wt/hp (note D) 1968 SS/EA Class weight break,,,,,, 8.70 - 9.47 wt/hp (note E) Note A: Though the 68' Dart GTS 440 had a weight/horsepower factor under 8.70, the NHRA classed the car in SS/EA. Later, the NHRA would re-factor the 440/375 HP to 365 Horsepower, and then again to 356 Horsepower. Note B: The difference between the 68' Camaro SS 396 396/325 HP and 396/350 HP engines was the camshaft, which meant no difference in Super Stock. Later, the NHRA would re-factor these engines to 360 Horsepower for Super Stock. Note C: The 68' Chevelle SS 396 396/375 HP was classed in SS/EA. The 396/375 HP was later re-factored to 390 Horsepower. Note D: The 68' Cobra-Jet Mustang 428/335 HP was classed in SS/EA. The 428/335 HP was immediately re-factored to 355 Horsepower by the NHRA for the 1968 season. Note E: In 1968, this class was car specific, and did not only go by the wt/hp factor. |
