Some of the latest POA has a dial in board to show what the guys need to run to stay in. The same could happen for a POA class event. Go off the index or Nat record on the same boards and see how the cars do against that. Some of Rich ideas may not be great but they try something and change if it doesnt work and Im sure they could change the existing concept to work for class racing to. Oh yeah change the glass hood and put a 400 SBC legal motor and I could be a GT/A,B,C car in hours |
Re: PINKS...Here's Our Chance.....
Jeff just because you show up still does not change the fact there is less than a 10% chance you get picked. So if you go to 5 races and spend 300.00 and dont get picked what is the better. 250.00 for one race with a guarenteed shot at the money or 300.00 plus expenses to go to 5 seperate events and never run for the money? If you read my earlier post I gave a suggestion that would work. I can't think of one track that would not take 60 bucks per car with a 500 car count for 10K winner take all. Again run off the index with a .500 max breakout and leave off the tree. So sorry PAO is not the answer for Class unless you format it with the above combo.

Re: PINKS...Here's Our Chance.....
Floyd, I have a question. What is the % of a chance to win 18K cash at a legal NHRA National event Class Race ? And how much do you spend to Get that chance?

Re: PINKS...Here's Our Chance.....
A guarantee that you have a shot at the money? Do you get that guarantee now with a national event race? If they are taking X amount of cars and you are not far enough under, you just wasted allot of time and money for a shot at competing for the money. Isn’t that what you are doing at Pinks?

Re: PINKS...Here's Our Chance.....
I don't think anyone is saying change NHRA rules in class to mirror what Pinks is doing. They are just saying have a stock / super stock event at a Pinks show to help showcase the people that make up the entry level of professional drag racing.
The more people that are interested in drag racing, the better chance we all have at making this a family gig where our kids and grandkids can have the same fun as we are. If NHRA can't get fans to the track, they can't get money. That means we the racers have to make that up with entry fees, which drives the racers away. Once it gets to where the general public is not interested and the racers are staying home, NHRA will simply cut races because there is no money in it. |
Re: PINKS...Here's Our Chance.....
Floyd I also want to clarify that my intent isn't to "change" class racing, but to offer another style of racing that has proven successful in attracting new fans. I never mentioned "replacing" class racing with arm drop racing. It will be a welcome change from the grind having to wait all day for 1 or 2 runs, empty stands, the ridiculous entry and participation fees, grade points, wondering if bad weather will force you (us) to come back some other weekend so the pros can complete their program. This is an event we're we'll be treated not only like humans, but respected for all our hard work, money, and perseverance deserves. Rich Christensen is the star, and will make us the main attraction, not John Force or the Don Schumacher monopoly. And contrary to pessimistic opinions as I receive info , WILL ATTRACT NEW BLOOD!!!!!

Re: PINKS...Here's Our Chance.....
Floyd what if POA was a all run S/SS combo, no crossing fingers and hoping for that guarantee chance? Now you have the chance with one adjustment to the program. The tree still stages the cars and the timing is still activated and just the arm drop makes the vehicles leave. People would get educated on how class racing works during the show as you could be the one explaining how it works on TV. This alone would be worth the price of admission to get spectators to become educated and maybe then they would come to the next Div race to watch class racers. Use the POA score boards and start with index and then CIC race with determined amount of under agreed upon to change next round index. Just like No Problems CIC race that appears to be quite an audience catcher. Im sure some of the big parts warehouses and other parts makers for the sport would like to have a commercial during the telecast on SPEED. Then talk about contigency program with decals on cars that can give that kind of exposure on TV. What would the decal people say about that.
