I wish i owned, wrenced and drove the first stocker in to the 9's ...wichever car it would have been..Dearmond's,Little's Pond's,Aluise or any other that was in the mix..a true accomplishment.. 4-5 different combos that were wthin a couple of hundres of a second...the system worked back in those days.. and then we got AHFS...
now with the new cars the 8's seem like an easier target than the 9's were..Just wait until Ford says : we need bigger tires in Stock!

Yeah Stephen, But after some of the sorting out passes I made with my mustang last year I know one old fart that would give it a try. Looked at it pretty close back when the HEMI's were in AA. Did find three cars from Shelby with autos. One sold for 5.5 mil. at Barrett-Jackson a few years ago. But mine would be a 4 sp.

No, that's the car we still own that I drive/drove. The car in the link is the one my grandfather bought new in 1965. Mark Vieira bought it from us a few years ago and restored it to the condition that you see in the pictures. The paint scheme is identical to what was run on the car in the '60's. Obviously, the car was tubbed at one point so it's not a real "restoration" per se, but it's still a very nice car and has a lot of sentimental value. I believe the last time that car went down a racetrack was in 1994 at the World Finals. Best I remember it running was a 9.57 @ 139. It's a Dana, leaf spring, ladder bar car.

I always said if I could ever swing it financially (read: lottery winnings!), that I'd buy back both Hemi Countdown (the '65) and Hemi Countdown II ('68 Hurst Dart). If, somehow, those two cars ever make it back into the family they won't ever leave it again.

Jared, is the SS/BA you drive the ex-Parham car?

1965 A990 Belvedere SS/BA, first one in the 9's back in 1976 at Fremont IIRC. Formerly owned by Rudy Schings, motor by Joe Allread. Cleanest race car I have ever seen, white top and bottom, and spotless. Last I heard Danny Smith in Ohio has it.

No, the car that I drive was previously owned by Robin Pellesier and driven by Art Pacheco. Robin took the car from coast-to-coast looking for good air. I don't know if the car ever answered the call for 1st round of elim's while he owned it. He was interested in the National Record, period.

Last I heard, the Barton family still had the ex-Parham car, but that was quite awhile ago so it may have changed hands by now. David would know better than I.
