Re: Carolina Class Racers Association
Also, I think we should start posting some topics that need to be discussed when we get together. Everyone has items of special interest so lets start listing them so we can get down to business.

Re: Carolina Class Racers Association
Tracy, if you want this thing to grow in my opinion ,you will have to run at more tracks than the two that have been mentioned. It is at least 3 hr drive for me and as you know there are a lot of stockers in this area. Like the Warrens, Rowes,Hilling, Pope,Pearsall, Whitleys ect.......probably could name 20 at minimum. Just a thought.Lot of east coast racers would like this idea if possibly had a race or two this way such as Fayetteville or Coastal Plaines ,or Kinston.I know you gotta get it started ,but mentioning some of thes tacks as possible paticipants could help .Even Darlington could bring in a lot of racers. JUST MY THOUGHTS. How about tech, scales, indexes ,and maybe setting records in this assoc. That would be cool !!

Re: Carolina Class Racers Association
Here's a couple of things to get the discusion started.... What kind of entry fee's would be acceptable to everyone?.... Do you think there should be a membership fee so we could have a year end points fund?....
If so, how much? What about trophy's? There is a lot to think about when starting an association! |

Danny, i just sent you a pm....norm

Re: Carolina Class Racers Association
Good point Scott. We currently pay $75 at our combo races. Is that too much or would you pay more to get a better payout? What do some of the other "local" associations pay for entry and do they have a membership fee.
|
Re: Carolina Class Racers Association
I think $75 is a good number for an entry fee for these events. I think the "Iron Tree" trophies (I think I posted a pic of one somewhere) would be a great addition to this series. I think the big ones run $60-$75, but they're *really* nice... heavy resin, hand-painted. Very cool. I'll have to do some research, but they might be available with 1 tier instead of 2 for a more affordable price.
(If the purse is a "100% payback" like Roxboro's structure), I think it'd be fine to take out $5 off the top from the entry fee to go toward purchasing the trophy, and any remainder could be rolled over into the points fund. (ie., $5 from each entry go into the trophy/points fund, and pay back based off of $70) I think $20-$25 is fine for membership. A jacket and trophy would be more important to me for winning the points than monetary rewards. Maybe a "gold card" good for the following season's series. Some things that are surely going to come up... should S and SS be run separate in the early rounds? When and how is a ladder established? Heads-up runs? Scales? I think *some* kind of ladder or random pairing in the early rounds would be great. I think I've run Tracy 1st round about 4 times, and I haven't been to *that* many combos! Piedmont has laddered cars before based on a Dash for Cash type (closest to dial-in) run on the final qualifying run. If you did that, you could make that a real Dash for Cash $10, half to the winner, half to the points fund. That may not be possible at the events that may occur on Saturday nights at Pro-Am races. (well, I guess you could still put a number on the car on the 2nd Q of IHRA runs... we'd just have to keep track just the same.) Need a secretary! ;) |
Re: Carolina Class Racers Association
$60-$75 is a great entry fee for these events. It can also provide an awesome payout if car counts are there.

In order to have heads up runs at these races I would expect that we would have to weigh. And to be able to make weight for heads up, you would almost have to weigh cars every run. It may not be feasible, but we also might be able to make that happen. I would be all for heads up runs at these combo races, as long as they were enforced correctly. We can put Danny Sr on post-race teardowns! lol |
Re: Carolina Class Racers Association
All of these are great ideas. But, who is going to run the show as far as weighing, keeping up with points, ladder sheets, etc. Can we really expect the track that we are running at to keep up with all of this if what we pay in entry fee's is 100% payback? Just a thought. Like Beard said, we need a secretary or someone to help out with this. Any one voulunteering...lol?

Re: Carolina Class Racers Association
I like the $75 entry. I like the trophy, jacket, and Gold card ideas. I prefer to race off of a ladder sheet. I like to know how difficult my day is going to be, and who's next. I realize it would be more troublesome to have a qualifying sheet by index, so how would it work if everyone drew a number out of a bowl and that would be your placement number on the laddersheet? It will be the only way that I will ever be #1 qualifier! I like to mix the Stock with the Super Stock. Whether you race a C/CM or a HA Super Stock, it is about the same. In some cases, the Stock will have to spot the Super Stock car. As far as points go, you could do it the old IHRA way where the driver has to decide whether to claim the event and turn in a "points card". It may be easier for the secretary, instead of seeing if the race was an improvement/replacement race in a best 5 of 8 races. I feel a webpage would be helpful in promoting, with the schedule and pictures. I just want a place to race with Stock/Super Stock, and I'm always looking for a good value to stretch my racing budget.
On another note, we saw the owner of the track in Union, SC at a local fish camp, and he says the track will be running in March. Anyone heard more? |

I'd also like to see some races in Darlington or at least some where in SC.
As far as the "Iron Tree" trophys, they sure look like the NOPI trophys. There might be a fire sale on those with the demise of the NOPI series. |
