I sent a Email to them as soon as I saw the rule changes with a couple of questions one of them was to verify when they say aftermarket seat they mean Kirkey seats. I still have not heard back. I will post when I do

Neil, just what is it that you're trying to say? I've always found the NHRA to be exactly like FOX News, Fair and Balanced. ;<)

I sent an e-mail also to my local technical director asking if the Kirkey seat would be ok if properly installed . I was told that the rules did not say "approved" aftermarket seats so the seat I selected should be ok. I was asked to send in a picture of the seat I wanted to use which I immeadiately did. Haven't heard back from them since I sent in the picture. I guess they may be refining the rule change.

The Kirkey seat will not even remotely look stock in my 64 Savoy but I like the idea of being a whole lot safer in the Kirkey seat rather than sliding around on a 50 year old bench seat. Being able to move a lot of weight to the back of the car is nice too.:D

NHRA should reinstate the 50/50 weight rule for Stock Eliminator to prevent this.

Not trying to be smart, but I've seen more than one comment on this thread now about "sliding around on a bench seat". :confused: I have the original bench seat in the Volare, and I've never gone sliding anywhere. My belts are installed properly, and always cinched down as tight as possible.

I've been using my bench seat on my '64 Savoy and with the belts I don't slide either and I like it but less weight and a safer seat construction is my consideration.
