Re: B/SA DP Car
Gosh Carson...I thought thats what the altitude adjusted tracks were!!
They need to do something about the New cars (hp), triggers, and altitude correction formulas. Unfortunately NHRA will never do anything as long as racers just bitch and complain. Its a shame that they won't do the right thing, but its down right sad that we just allow it. Lack of Huevos on our part. RJ |
Re: B/SA DP Car
R J, since you are the man and have now spoken, Maybe something will come down the pike. Just Maybe. The easy way is to buy a new Ford, the hard way is to soup up those combos you got. If you put an aftermarket intake on the hemi, it sorta looks like a ford. And just plug up the other 8 holes like we did some 40 years ago. It's an idea.

Re: B/SA DP Car
Hey Jeff I ain't holding my breath on something coming down the pike, and I don't have much soup left!! You think I could just put one of your 5.7's in my old Ford and Wesley won't notice?? I heard he quit drinking and teching so it would be gamble. Whatcha Think??

If you think were paranoid look what they did with the DP horsepower at the Vegas Div, even NHRA couldn't figure it out for a while. And hell yes those DP cars could set the record by at least three tenths, just some lousy luck with the weather. We knew we had a very short window to get the record and that we may never have a Rat Motored Chevelle set one again the way things are going. We were lucky to set it with such a SLOW CAR that could probably never outrun a DP for sure. Thats why we need to give those guys an FX class or something so the slaughtering can stop. The altitude deal is a mess to be sure. I had heard from someone in the know that NHRA does not want to change the correction factor situation with S/SS because......you ready for this.....it would somehow upset the cart with Comp!! I don't completely understand why, but they really need to do something positive. The new cars(sorry Jeff) will continue to be top dogs in any Class they fall in. I believe that any NEW Car can set any Record they want to at almost anytime. Most of them just don't want to. I do not see NHRA putting the new cars in a different Class any time soon. Too much money involved and like it of not NHRA is in business to make money. I'll be dead and gone long before the new car hp ratings get in line. Its a shame. I understand about protecting ones hp rating, I run a combination that nobody else runs so I also have to be careful. It would really be nice if NHRA could settle on something legimate as far as a "trigger". It is getting to the point that we must ask ourselves "why" are we spending all this time and money to go fast, set a Record, and then get hit with HP. Just doesn't make much sense. I have enjoyed racing NHRA Stock for many years, and I would like to continue as long as I phyiscally can, but something needs to be done. It sure takes away a lot of enjoyment, especially when you have to run one of the New cars heads up and get out run by almost a second. Hope everyone has a great Christmas/New Year Later RJ |
Re: B/SA DP Car
RJ,
I bet if they take a hitter like you out at least they feel like they got their moneys' worth out of that NEW CAR they have a fortune in! Merry Christmas to you too. TP |
Re: B/SA DP Car
tracy
Appreciate the kind words, but Mr. Jeff could race me heads up, and have a .200 light, and be throwing Mardi Gras beads out the window, while he was finishing off a dozen osyter and figuring out what he was going to cook later in the evening and what wine he was going to start out with, and still out run me by the length of a long freight train and only run 92 mph through the traps. and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Re: B/SA DP Car
Why don't they give points and pay contingency for HP hits? :D THERE ya go!
