Anyone with a fast car I'd expect they'd like it.

I know Todd knows, but for anyone that doesn't: I do support and promote big money bracket races, BUT for totally different reasons. I've never been against heads-up runs. That's part of what makes S/SS special. For years I have advocated for several changes that would reduce the number of classes and therefore increase the likelihood of heads-up runs... but whenever anything like that is proposed, even the "performance eliminator" guys get real quiet.

Leaving it like it is just because that's the way it's always been doesn't make it right. Change isn't always a bad thing. I know a guy that only ran his first and last event last year and was unlucky enough to draw a fast heads up first round. I felt really bad for him. He worked his tail off to run stock and then that happened. I'd be surprised if he tries stock again.

I'd be curious to know if the quicker cars in class if the engines were built by the car owners/drivers vs. buying them from a builder. If the latter is true it's just a money class (more money=more performance).

I'd also be curious as to whether stock racers would rather see more stock cars or less at a race. If the latter is true why not change it to run eliminations like they do in the class combo.... Dial everyone at index and whoever gets there first wins. That would make it a true performance class.

Darrel, it's called racing for a reason. It's not supposed to be cheap.

I have a backyard engine most of it done in my backyard. I have always looked forward to heads up runs. It took me over a year to get the Cuda to run the Index. Every heads up run is a report card on how you and your car are doing against the competition. Class racing is heads up racing at its best The rule book described this before you made the decision to come race. Do what is fun for you.

I'm curious what majority wants to do away with heads up. Have you taken a poll? I don't get that. To be honest with you if there are no more heads up, why build an expensive bracket car with rules? Why follow the rules? Why not just invite an 9" outlaw tire class to runs heads up, and end stock all together. Just have more Wally days at the local tracks.

No I haven't. It just just seems like the majority (that I've talked to) is trying to prevent a heads up. I have never heard of anyone that changed classes hoping to have a heads up race. That's why I asked if that's what the majority would like. I'm not expecting a change unless that's what the majority wants. I knew how it worked when I started stock. Didn't understand why it's like that then and still don't. I'll be at the national open and national event in topeka soon. I'll try to ask a few random drivers in stock or super stock if they are looking for a heads up race or trying to prevent one. Actually I'll start a new thread here and ask.

Darrel with all due RESPECT, how about the majority that don't want a heads up.....Go back to bracket racing at the local track. Bracket 2 Non Delay. This is Stock eliminator , supposedly a Performance Class.....
