Re: Live from New England Dragway,Epping,NH-NHRA LucasOil Se
Had a great time regardless of the temps. It was the first time ever that I made a run when the temp was over 100 degrees. Today was a great summer day. There was a breeze every day and that made it much more bearable. Nice field of stk/ss cars, some great racing especially today. I left at 12:15 today, and they probably finished by 1 or 1:30. Jack mentioned the rain, but it was a non factor. The ground bearly got wet and dried almost immediately. must've been a cloud that followed Jack up here. Thanks to all that attended.

Last final was Stock @ 1:30. Was going to say hi to you Jack but you were deep in practice tree training; when we got back you were already gone. Track appeared to be great all day and everything went pretty smooth. Wish we could've run but was nice to see friends we haven't seen for a while. Epping has made a whole bunch of improvements over the past few years and is def a great facility. It was odd being there without the car though lol.

This event is now in the books, congratulations to Katie Sepanek, James Antonette and Joe Santangelo.
All those who raced/reported live, spectated and worked the event (track & NHRA) should also be recognized for doing their part under extreme heat. May you all stay well. MB |

just wanted to clear something up that may have come out the wrong way....I had no problem with the VP fuel, the problem was my little 146ci turbo motor didnt want to run with it, the pcm was wondering what was going on with that much octane, seems the knock sensor was doing plenty of knocking and pulling timing out like crazy.... being this my first Divisional running stock there were alot of suprises that I wasnt aware of in this class. I now know I could have tried some unleaded 110 and also didnt know anything about the max weight break for the classes. Ill be better prepared next time.... but again had a ball and cant wait to try it again!!

Well it was some weekend - heat and great racing .Me , I'm back to normal - this morning after losing another sweaker by a mere .001 all I wanted to do was get out of Dodge -- so I put my tail between my legs and headed home . I'm fine now but in the heat of the moment its tough to take - take my word for it .
New England Dragway showed us this weekend that they can put on a great show and still have the Sportsman racers being happy .The track all race long was great - didn't hear of one traction issue from a racer as the track officials / NHRA D1 staff did their best to keep it biting .Did anyone notice the gal working the water box ? She is one dedicated employee who got it perfect everyday for every racer . Opps - almost forgot - congrats to Katie and James ............... Its been over twenty years since I was last at NED and I have renewed respect for New England racers who visit us at New Jersey and Pennsylvania tracks - yes , its a long ride - you guys and gals must really love to race ............. |

There was so much going on this weekend I forgot this little tidbit - Ken Robinson had a great weekend - after winning first round Saturday he found out he won the SuperWinch drawing . The prize ? What else but a great SuperWinch for his trailer - then Ken went on to go rounds today ..........Pictured below with him on the right is Bill Taylor .

Congratulations to all the winners in Epping.
But, is there any way we can race when it's a tad cooler, like early to mid May, Sept. & the first part of Oct. I'm sure that this heat was very unusual & rare because half the country had the heat as well. But you have July 4th weekend @ Lebanon. 3 weeks later in July @ New England. 2 weeks later in August @ Atco. 2 weeks later in August @ Cecil County. That's 4 races in the very hot summer months. Why couldn't we have 2 points races in May, 1 race in July, 1 race in August & 2 races in Sept. ??? just my 3 cents. Pistol Pete 1374 I/SA |
