What about Don Nicholson? or Jimmy DeFrank? or . . . . ?
There are LOTS of good racers that need recognition. It's kind of like picking the most beautiful woman in the world. You could get general agreement on the top 10%, but beyond that there is lots of talk. Today's winner won't make the top 10 tomorrow. Who is the greatest baseball player? - same deal. My personal favorite is Bobby Warren, like so many others here. Smart, dedicated, polite and respectful, and a winner. |
In no particluar order:
- Bobby Warren - Dave Boertman - John Lingenfelter The Three Kings, in my book. |
On a Bracket Race site ....The late Steve Taylor was supposed to be the best and a legend. No mention of him here. Boertman/Lingenfelter. Have to ask this question, was the racer great for the time he raced or did the time make him a great racer??

I forgot my password , but by far my votes go to Ronnie " the King" Sox and Bobby West Warren. And yes Mike Beard he is still alive. Another was Lee shepherd, now there is a man that could shift a car!! These guys are all true gentlemen and did it with no bells and whistles. They did it with some bad-***** driving!

I don't think Lee ever drove a Stock or SS car.

Since I am stuck up here in the mountains of Division 6, I usually only get to see Div 6 and 7 racers. I would have to say the DeFranks and Jeff Lane are at the top of my list. Jeff Lane does more with less money than ANY racer in ANY class than I heve ever seen. If he does not have it he will make it. Watch out Super Stock racers, word on the street is that Jeff Lane will be back in SS next year without the Comp car to worry about. Dan Flethcer is also one sweet driver to watch though. Was I supposed to pick one driver? It must be the thin air!
