Re: New NHRA Enhancement for Sponsors

Heaven help us all. Many have stuck by NHRA for so many years. I guess the feeling is that it will get better. Seeing all of the post on hear about racing with a different organization, starting a new organization, racing combos, anything but NHRA is really a fasination to me. I have mentioned and recommended other drag racing venues, only to be blasted over the years and basicly told that I was wrong to go on this site and even mention anything outside of class racing with NHRA. Please forgive me, but how many of you remember being financially able to attend and compete at a national event with NHRA. No grade points, no set "index" to run in order to compete and going to all of the Manufacturers, filling out a form, putting the decals on the car and "getting paid" more for all of the decals than the actual purse. Look back at some of the old stock, superstock and modified (RIP) cars and how many decals were on those cars.

Summit, Jegs and all the others, there are alot of nice tracks that would love to see you coming knocking on their door with your funding to put on a race. Set up an event that racers and crewmembers can afford to compete at, do some print and airways advertising and watch the racers and the spectators show up. Okay here I go again, tracks like Z-Max Dragway, Bristol Motorsports Park, etc. don't care if races like Pinks All Out come back and bring over 500 racers and 20,000 spectators for a two day event.

I want to be a contingency sponsor.
1st I have to put up a bunch of money to cover all the classes in Stock and Super Stock.
No one shows up in J/S, M/S, O/S, P/S, O/SA, T/SA, U/SA, V/SA.
I still have to pay for those no shows, does this make any kind of sense. And guess where the no show money goes? You got it, NHRA.
Sponsors want less classes because of this situation, not because of bye runs. With a bye run the racer at least gets a little money. With a no show, the greedy guys get the money.

I am surprised that a sponsor would even want to participate.

But don't worry sports fans, soon all the sportsman, except TAFC & TAD, will be relegated to their own separate events, such as the Jeg's Sportsnationals. You thought that the payouts were low before.

NHRA was founded for the racers to race. It seems that if you are not a Pro then you are not a racer. Times have really changed. Whenever I go to the Gators I wonder if I am going to be able to park inside the track instead of out the gate.

Ron Ortiz
U/SA sponsor this NHRA

Hopefully it won't be inside the track.....at Orlando!

Speak for yourself. I can and will stop when it ceases to be fun.

They're probably hitting the tracks up for more money as well. No matter how they spin Dallas' contribution to the "Company" they will be hard pressed to justify his $400,000.00 salary now. It will be very interesting to see if they make it through the season next year. Las Vegas may be willing to lay odds on that bet.

What Greg said! I was out of it for three years without any withdrawal symptoms and many others have done it as well. Sure you miss your friends but racing should never be a cause for someone to jeopardize his family's financial security.

I do speak for myself - it appears to be the same for many others - I am glad to hear you are NOT addicted as many are

The fun will never stop for me - I hope it does not end for you

I hope NHRA survives

The only other option ( IHRA ) is for those in the central and eastern part of the US - nothing in Califfornia, Neveda, Oregon, Washington, Arizona ( one in Tucson )

:-) peace

No - do that by buying a house or investing in some solid mutual funds

I personally do not risk my families financial security because there is no such thing

This is going to be good - LMAO

This gets better and better, not ! This will cause even more contingency sponsors to say- "Thanks, but no thanks."

So, with even less cars showing up, they should look better anyway, devoid of all cont. decals.

After the pain of NHRA's latest sting wears off, I would imagine some sponsors will take their advertising money over to other racing organizations.
