It's the whole concept of allowing crate motor Super Stock, under factored cars to compete with street available cars that were the foundation of stock for many, many years. Pandora's box has been opened and NHRA has made it clear, they don't care what the other racers think about their decision.

Seems to me that there was a time when Stock Eliminator cars were basically street cars. That changed a long time ago. Both the DP and Cobra Jet fit the current Stock rules. The HP is another story....

The Smoos were part of Lil Abner, and they come by the thousands. Gee I'm getting too old for this. And I don't hate the GM cars. I (and the Ford guys) would love to see GM out here. It would be better for all of us. We raced GM stuff (don't ask, don't tell) until 68 when we became the Dodge dealer on a back street in Houma, LA with a one car showroof and seven total employees. Last non Mopar we had was a 67 Nova with a 427 Chev in A/MP. We had the car and were going to Indy anyway about the same time we signed the franchise agreement, so we wrote "Southland Dodge" on the side. We won A/MP in 68 beating Hubert Platt in one of the factory Fords, and when the write up came it had a Hemi. After that, we have had so many cars, I would need beverages to try to remember them all.

LOL....Great story Jeff. I was there in 68 and I vagely remember seeing your car. That was a "Semi-Hemi" under the hood. You were a lot younger then.....heh heh.
