If I knew how to post images, have some from the Jan 1964 indoor race at the International Amphitheater in Chicago. I didn't know they even had cameras back then...

Late afternoon update, the rain has stop, and the local were in now calling for only a 30% chance of a thunder storm tomorrow. Maybe we can get some racing in tomorrow.

The pits on the other hand are hit or miss, I though I was in a good spot. I can work off the back but not the side, so I am not in bad shape. Some spots look great with no standing water, but others are pretty bad, lets hope it dries up by tomorrow.

Everett, all the cars are still in their trailers, I will try to get some pictures tomorrow.

Just noticed on NHRA's website that "Safety Kleen" is sponsoring "FREE" containers and disposal of waste oil and other contaminants for the Pro Teams at Gainsville......has that been extended to the sportsman racers also....anyone have any info...?????

Go to the .90 forum. Yes it has been extended to the sportsman. Rich (moveman) was 1 of the 1st to get rid of oil.

Think it's under the Kurt Busch post...LOL! (seriously)

How'd you like to be one of the 8 P/S guys scheduled to finish Phoenix during qualifying. Talk about an unknown track....... Should be very interesting.
Looks like all the sportsman guys are gonna get one hit and go racing....

Unk

An interesting thought, but anything that would provide both the racing venue AND pits would have to be measured in acres, not square feet. Such a facility would be cost-prohibitive to build and expect a return on the investment. I would cost billions to do.

Bob, you're correct about the size and cost, but one name DOES come into my mind. This guy could probably buy and sell NHRA AND IHRA......Nascar Magnate----Bruton Smith. IMO, he likely has the resources it takes to undertake projects of this magnitude. The 3 U.S. built, domed indoor facilities also could be used for State/County Fairs, National Truck/Tractor pulling events, Snowmobile grass and asphalt drag racing, Kart racing, and other sports or any number of large publically attended events that cannot happen outside in rainy, snowy, or inclement weather.....Like the guy said in the movie, Field of Dreams...."Build it, and they will come...." :)WJ

Hope it clears up you guys!

How about driving 1500 miles and not running a single round of eliminations in two weeks? :(

It might be late Sunday or even Monday, but at least these guys will get to race. :)

Good luck everybody!

Thanks for the great pictures Ken. Even though it's raining I wish I could be there.
