(Thanks Obama) stock rear in this car! So 12 bolts from moser are 2400 bucks! Find a factory 12 bolt for a 65 ya right! So we found a 10 bolt 8.5 rear from a 1973 and up. But I live in South Dakota in the coldest flippin winter in the history of the planet ( Global warming ya sure Al Gore) So the car with the rear end I need is stuck in a snow pile. Nice! New Bullet cam on the way! Disk Brakes for front on the way and all the front end stuff. So next week guys I will have more pictures. Oh by the way I need more sales to finish this thing! So check out my website midwestracecabinets.com :)

How about taking the brackets off you rear and welding them on a narrowed big car 12bolt rear end. Easy way to get around those hard to find rear ends. That's if you feel you need the extra strength.

I could be wrong but that 73 8.5 is going to need alot of work before it bolts into a early A body.Got be at least 2 inches too wide on each side. And i think the upper control arms are at a different angle also.

Big car 12 bolt does not have the ears on the center section for the upper control arms. An 8.5 Grand National/442 rear will fit with some work (Upper control arms are wrong angle and you will have to use lower brackets off your 10 bolt.). '73 up A-body 8.5 takes more work than that.

Charlie, you might want to check these guys out....they show a Richmond set on their web site. Maybe it's a NOS set? Or maybe they don't have them at all. Might be worth a quick call, though. -Al

I think on your wagon, since you have been presented several unattractive options, instead, use a '68 to '72 Chevelle 12 bolt. It's about two inches or so wider, that can be compensated for by rim selection, and if you want to put good axles in it and a C clip eliminator kit, the flange width can be adjusted then by whoever does your housing work. What is a rare item, but might be found also, is a '72 Chevelle 8.5 inch 10 bolt. I'm not too sure what those came in, but don't confuse it with the 73-77 unit. It won't be easy to find, however. At least the 68-72 12 bolt will be a bolt in under that car.Good luck on what looks like a fun project!

Rear end problem solved! Barn find. 12 bolt for a 1964-1967 chevelle m-w spool, 4.88 gear old school strange axels with disk brake set up... Ok my buddy was at a guys farm yesterday looking at a old ford pickup he wants repainted while looking at it in the garage he tripped on something. A 12 bolt out of a old drag car! I can't tell you what i paid. But i felt like I robbed a bank or something. Its a little rusty needs a cover and gears and paint!
