Today is not starting off very well. We had rain last night, and its starting to sprinkle now, 7:55 am. The track drier is out, but the radar does not look good.
On a side note, the picture below is a Cobra Jet engine in a super comp dragster. Steve Matusek was going to race the car here but did not register in time. The car has run a 7.90, and the engine is all stock. |
Re: Live from the NHRA Gatornationals
Its one thing to drive 100-150 miles to a divisional race and sit in the rain.
To drive 1000 or so from the tri-state area and do the same is a real shame. Hope it clears up you guys! |
Re: Live from the NHRA Gatornationals
This is why the town has always been called "Rainesville" to the Central Florida racers! Not funny I know but it wasn't meant to be, just a fact. Jim

Well folks, you know I like to stay positive, but it looks like we are done for today in my opinion. The radar looks bad, I can not see the rain stopping anytime soon. If there are any changes in the weather I will let everyone know asap.
Here is a picture of my pit spot, if you look close you can see the water coming off my awning at a pretty good clip. |
Re: Live from the NHRA Gatornationals
They officially pulled the plug on today about 20 minutes ago.

Re: Live from the NHRA Gatornationals
Ken,Since you dont have much to do---Can you find some Malibu wagon stockers?
Would love to see some pics ---Thanks Oh and that other deal---While I stare at your beautiful Mustang and say MAN! I wished I had that. Somebody is leaning on the fence on the spectator side saying the same thing about my old car |
Re: Live from the NHRA Gatornationals
Thinking about the rain today and the forecast at Gainesville....You know.....A promoter with the resources should build 3 indoor climate- controlled stadiums in the U.S., complete w/ 1/4mi. track, pits, spectator stands and full length safety-netted shut-down area with a huge air handling system to remove smoke and products of combustion from the whole complex, continously pumping in fresh, clean air throughout, including grandstands, pit, vendor, and food areas.... Owner could lease complex out to both NHRA, IHRA for Nat. events...One on the East coast, one in Ohio or Indiana, and one on the West coast........also, it would be a great facility to hold Nat. record attempts, rent out testing and track time, and competition License testing, in a weather-controlled venue.... wouldn't "The No Rain Nationals" be nice?? Thoughts? (No, I am NOT, having adult beverages or smoking anything today.....) :cool:WJ

Re: Live from the NHRA Gatornationals
There was only a 90% chance of rain today but cheer up, tomorrow it's only 100% chance of rain........Welcome to the Sunshine State!
