Big deal?
It was still 425HP and then GM reduced it to 375 "playing the game".
Insurance and sanctioning body game that is.
If I had a nickel for every chebbie friend I had as a kid that owned a 396/375 anything and bragged about how it is really a 425 HP I would be a wealthy man. :p

According to the blueprint guide, and the old Chevy parts manuals, in 1965 the cam in the 396/425 Corvette engine is bigger than the cam in the 396/375 passenger car engine.

In later years, the cam is the same in all of the top of the line 396 engines, and they are all rated at 375.

They shoulda made sure that Dodge would have supplied trucks to NHRA before they invested that time...

You are correct but there was a under table Z-11 package for the 1962 car only the light weight body parts I was at Detroit Dragway Aug 1962. Detroit always had a big meet before the Nationals. Strickler, Dyno, Frank Sanders (S&S Headers) Hayden Profit should up with the light weight parts but the track would not let them run the parts so afew of them went out and got rental cars for the weekend, changed the parts, raced then returned the parts to the rental cars. If you ever come across pictures from Detroit Dragway meet you see some odd looking cars. Sidenote: A chevy dealer (Zintmasters) in Kokomo, IN had a white 62 Impala with the Z11 package on it it was in a number of Chevy Mags over the years.

Bo,

The manufacture must submit the information about each vehicle to NHRA. NHRA does not seek out combinations for people to run.

Evan, GM has already posted an advertised horsepower rating. NHRA is not real likely to accept a reduced rating at this point, and the given rating from GM factors the car completely out of Stock, and probably Super Stock.

Is the 2009 2010 posted some where I did not see on the NHRA website?

Thanks

Personally I think both the Dodges and CJ's should be in SS due to the limited no.'s made and the fact that they were never produced in that exact version for the street.

These cars should follow the same path as the '68 Hemi A bodies, the '65 A990 cars, the '64 aluminum Hemi cars, '64 Z11 Chevys, etc, all went straight to SS.

A very interesting observation Jim.
