24 hours should be plenty of time. When I worked you had 3 hours tp produce or you were terminated. A few had ways of getting around the test. One person used their daughters urine, only to come up positive. (I bet that kid was in deep doodoo). Then wanted it dna tested to show it wasn't theirs

Hey DH, where have you been all day? :D

Magnumv8;
I totally agree with you, NHRA needs to have these established rules and they need to be enforced. I can't tell you how many Div 2 LODRS races I have been to and heard Aaron Green announcing over the P.A. that kids under 16 years of age are not allowed to operate any wheeled mode of transportation on the race track grounds (wording also found in the NHRA rule book) while I watch a group of 10-12 year old kids go by on 4-wheelers and pit scooters. Fact is the track and NHRA officials can not provide enough man power on the grounds to properly control this situation.

As far as the drug testing goes I'm all for it. I would not mind having each racer tested at the beginning of each day of a event. The question I was raising was if the race officials are being tested also as NHRA claims. Michele did provide some proof of that happening. That does make me feel better to know that the person standing in the burn-out box telling me when it is safe to start my burn-out is clean and clear-headed. I have had the throttle hang open on my car while doing the burn-out and thats not a good feeling.
John Kelly earlier raised the question about the higher-up Ivory Tower suit officials being subject to these same test. Thats where I still believe there is room for manipulation of the system. Are these people even subject to the test? I dont think that has been answered. If they are, could you be 100% confident that the test results would be released unbiased and fairly? That's why I refer to the example about the dog not biting the hand that feeds him. For that matter, I really would not have a problem with NHRA officials handling drug testing the racers themselves. In reality, when the "independant drug testing company" is hired by NHRA are they not the same as employees of NHRA for all practical purposes?

It's time for everyone to shut off the computors and go out in the garage and work on the car,the trailer,the tow vehicle or just maybe fix something in the house.Five pages worrying about something we have absolutely no control over.I dealt with drug testing for over 30 years in my job.Got chosen a few times.Took test.No problem.
If Compton and the rest of them in Glendora don't test so what?You have no say,don't lose sleep over it.

Nice to see how you already condemned him. In the interview with him today he claimed he had shown up in time... just wasn't able to "produce" sufficient volume in the cup. Big difference between not showing up and this I feel. Should be interesting to see if he wins his appeal. That said, it's a good thing to have the random testing.

HORSE HOCKEY, are you trying to tell me that in a 24 hr period he could not produce enough volume for testing?

As a retired Army Officer we were required to participate and monitor drug testing, one of the things we found out was that drug users would try and give as little as possible so as to make the testing sample small in an attempt to pass the test or give them more time to get clean before retesting....BTW, I always passed.

LOL Ed, it's been a 3 day weekend and we needed something for entertainment. I did do some of what you suggested today though. I got my motorhome loaded, except for food. Checked the lights and tires on the trailer and greased the wheel bearings. All I have left now is make a trip to the grocery store, load the car up Wednesday evening and be ready to head up to Commerce Thursday morning. I didn't work on my car today, but I'm a .90 racer, so all that entails is setting the down RPM on the throttle stop at the track, reading the weather station and pushing a few buttons on the delay box.

Ed, this post was only intended to have a little fun with you, so take it just as it was intended.
