Re: '67 Camaro E/SA redo
Took the Camaro to US43 today to try to sort the carb issues my partner has been having. Seems no matter what he tried there was a huge hole/bog right at the hit (he has tried three different carbs on this car). I had no hands on this engine build so I'm completely in the dark as to what was done internally. It sure does act as if the valve timing events are askew...labors to start no matter where the distributor is turned.
Anyway, I decided to see if it would even go down the track and took it to the lanes. Did my normal burnout procedure then staged the car noticing nothing unusual. At the hit the rpm's went up but the car did not react...like it was in neutral or something. Car pulls normal in second, third and reverse. First gear you can barely feel an attempt to pull. I'm thinking something inside the transmission...don't know if a convertor could exhibit this symptom in first gear only. I'll have to pull it out and take it to Thomas to find out what went wrong. Fluid level was good and I re-checked the cable adjustment. Here is a very short clip of the attempted pass... https://youtu.be/r6KL2dVxW3c When I returned to the trailer after that fiasco my partner said he was done with the car lol. Guess I'm on my own with this one hehe. I'll pull everything and put the Stocker engine back in soon. Need to get the trans to Arnett and have it checked out. I'll open my partner's engine on the stand and try to discern what is going on with that. Back to the shop... :p http://i434.photobucket.com/albums/q...psjofhxaho.jpg |
Re: '67 Camaro E/SA redo
Brad Paisley needs to write a song about this. "Back to the Shop..."?
I took my Camaro out to the track Did my burn out and it sure felt fast Revved her up - she sounded fine Dropped the hammer........ Back to the shop Sorry... Dale |
Re: '67 Camaro E/SA redo
Yes, it was disappointing to say the least. It was very odd in that I felt no hit, lurch or irregular sounds. The drag genie just walked up to the car and said "request for first gear denied" lol. Sitting here drinking my coffee contemplating driving over to the shop and pulling the trans right now. Any possibility a convertor would not pull in first gear but appear fine in all others?

Re: '67 Camaro E/SA redo
Actually, you did OK.
Saturday at the Pacific Raceway TnT a bracket Mustang vanished into a huge cloud of white smoke at the top end (water hose burst and sprayed the engine), a SuperStreet car dumped the motor in the traps and a Super Stock Fairlane did the same. Then there was the guy in a Honda who twisted his rear end around and several bad *** cars that couldn't make it to the 1/8 mile mark. I'll leave the Hello Kitty Jr. dragster out of this. Kids get a break from me. Drag Genie. I like that. Dale |
