Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
I may be missing something, but why is it there is not a stock class listed for the 5th gen Camaro? I’m not asking about COPO cars, but the cars a regular person can purchase from a dealership.

New SS/GT rules
I am researching to really see what information needs to be displayed. With the weight rule as it currently is written, it is hard to judge what would be a minimum and maximum weight race car combination to display.
Opinions? |
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
2020 End of year HP updates are in the data base today, along with new calculation for SS/GT classes.
There are some minor items that still need to be cleaned up, but the majority of everything has been updated. Happy New year! Dwight Southerland |
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
what happened to the Dart/Valiant /Barracuda listings in the classification guide or are they being updated ? They were there a few days ago .
TIA Gerry |
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
?? They are ther for display. Not sure what you are referring to.

Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
All of the January 2021 changes that NHRA posted (plus some not posted) are in the database and on the website now. Ready for 2021!!

Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
70 cuda 440 390/377 it use to fit A/SA What happened?
Thanks Larry |
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
I believe it still does. Where did you see that it does not?
|
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
Well... I was tipped off from a fellow Mopar racer that E bodies had their shipping weights revised based on "AMA Specs". The 440 6 Pack is now a natural C car because the shipping weight went up so much. I sent an email to Pat Cvengros and he shared with me that they are updating the entire classification guide based on the AMA weight values. For some odd reason, they began the process without notifying anybody this was happening.

Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
As a formal announcement, I am waiting for some finality to this situation before updating all the data on my website. This will be a huge amount of work that I do not have the time for in my current situation.
|
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
Dwight I made the comment in the “AMA” thread that nobody could blame you if you didn’t update anything for a while because the dust has definitely not settled. Perhaps Lonnie has gone into hiding, aka, pulled a Trudeau, but in any case Dave Ley (or somebody) is going to have their work cut out for them approving tech cards at Valdosta.

Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
Thanks. I am working on a review of all the data on the website to align it with NHRA's Tech Bulletins and Class Guides. They have made so many unpublished changes and the data has been in such flux, it is time to go from top to bottom. I hop everyone will be patient. My current job is very demanding of my time so I am not able to work on it with the regularity I have in the past. I will make periodic announcements as I progress.

Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
Hello all , sorry to sound so stupid, but im unclear of how to classify GT classes . Never have . Always been a stk eliminator guy , easy figure been doing those for decades, lol
Example:82 Camaro with a 70 model 402/330@355. What does this fit and weigh ? Unclear on the starting weight to +or- for classes Thanks Shane |
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
Shane, if you will pm me I'll give you the info. Just went through this with Danny and Pat at NHRA, I've been running GT for with a Gen 3 Camaro with SBC and BBC.

Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
Dwight: Thanks so much for this file and the effort you put in to compile it all.
I haven't actively raced since the 70's. I focus my retired time building model cars etc. I need to clear up some confusion about the type of carb used on the SS 1965 Beveldere's with the 426 Hemi. Your information has helped me to make the model I'm currently working on more accurate. Did you ever think this site would help an old modeler? Thanks again. God Bless. Walt |
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
please check the 1963 425 hp 426 ci
NHRA has 409 for both 415 and 426 |
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
1) End of year updates from NHRA applied to the database with all the new HP factors.
2) 1969 Pontiac shipping weights updated per NHRA. 3) 2023 Chevrolet Camaro added. |
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
When looking at engine blueprint specs. At the top it has Revisions and then each date. What does it mean if some of the dates are followed by WR?
|
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
Hello all, I am just curious and maybe confused or missing something. I always thought that in the classification guide/rulebook that you could only move up one class from the combo's natural class? I saw a natural B car-8.58 running in AA stock. Do the HP factors, Alum. heads etc. change that? If it is legal, I would like to do it. Educate me.
Thanks, Blessings BH |
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
Nice site but there is a problem just recently 1969 Dodge or Plymouth will not open . Says something about too small a fraction ,all the others are ok.

Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
I realized today that these last three posts have been made and I have not responded. I apologize, so here I am catching up.
1. Rob Petrie - The revisions are copied from NHRA's engine blueprint pages. They has been in the past an unofficial documenting the source of responsibility of the revisions made on the date specified in the form of the person's initials. It does not mean that the person had any cause for the change that was made, just that that person made the editing change. WR = Wesley Roberson, PC = Pat Cvengros 2. BobbyH - You have posed a question that can open a can of worms since there has not been a fully disclosed and published method of calculating the weight breaks. Let me try to explain. Suppose your "8.58 B-car" has a replacement head factor that is 10 greater than the base, or natural, power factor. To classify the car using the replacement heads, I was instructed to use the same power-to-weight factor of the base but multiply the replacement head factor for the weight the car would be to race (still a B-car). However, there are instances I have seen where the car's shipping weight was divided by the replacement head factor to derive a new power-to-weight factor and that becomes the basis for the classification. Unknowing (or untrained) tech officials can easily be confused (or influenced by a wily racer) into doing this classification method and thus you could end up with a B-car with replacement heads being classified into the AA class. Not saying that is what you experienced, but it is a possible explanation. 3. Rag71 - Thank you for pointing out the error you encounter. I am always grateful for such information since it is a daunting job to keep the database correct and this is a labor of love with no compensation. The error has been corrected. (would you pay a subscription fee to use the site?) Dwight Southerland |
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
on the 64 comet you do not have the biggger valve list ?????
|
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
?? It is in the engine specs for both 289-210hp engines.
|
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
End of years updates made for both class guides and tech bulletins.

Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
Dwight
Looking at the 1968 Chrysler 426 Race Hemi specsI see the compression number is a negative likely because the piston is listed as a dish rather than dome. No big deal , just thought you might want to change it. Thanks for the great site. Can't image the time and effort that went into this. |
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
How do you figure GT classes on classracerinfo? I?m curious what class a 66 Chevy II sedan/post would fit in with a 305hp rated 346 LS1. Thanks!

Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
I believe there may be a mistake under the 2005 Pontiac 364 engine. They have it noted as "number of cylinders 6 , while I believe it should be noted as 8

Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
I will be working on the end of year changes posted by NHRA in the next few days, Also, there are several additions in the accepted products lists that will be added. I will post when they are all done.

Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
It appears the 2002 Z06 is absent from the classifications.
The base Corvette @ 345 is listed but the 405hp Z06 is not. Is there a reason for this? |
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
The Z06 option is not listed in NHRA's Tech Bulletins or Class Guide for 2002. Only combinations recognized by NHRA are included.
See these: NHRA Class Guide Sheet Chevrolet 2002 NHRA Tech Bulletin Chevrolet 2002 |
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
Don't see any factor #'s for 1971 Hemi Cuda in SS wanted to see what they run today used to always be in SS/D &DA TY
|
Re: New website: "What class does this run?"
Thank you for pointing that out. As I investigated the issue, I found that it was caused by erroneous data in the database. I has been corrected now.
