They would very aware of what it cost and bitch about it just as loud as the class racers. BTW....all Summit ET finals winners get a Wally.

I believe that the racers that have their panties in a wad over a few bracket cars getting in for free and stealing their thunder should address the powers to be in Glendora. Tell NHRA that they are over taxed and under paid for the amount of work they put into being a class racer.

Those bracket racers read this forum and pay close attention to the NHRA class and sportsman racers. That is why they bracket race.

Well said.

This argument loses a lot of steam if you look through the event entry statistics so far this season. More often than not, classes are not filled so even a Grade 1 will get you in. If a class is filled, it is likely Stock.

I can imagine that it is frustrating to be a local racer for some early and late-season destination races, such as your local Gators. The out-of-towners will make it more difficult to get in those.

Obviously you don't race a stock or super stock class. Most of the races this year filled up long before even a grade 3 was reached. What you are seeing is the final car counts after some of the cars drop out for one reason or another. Maybe a mechanical problem that can't be fixed. Maybe a health or family related issue or even a tow vehicle that breaks down. It's not unusual to have 10 percent of the field drop out at a national event. The spots don't get filled because the racers have until noon on Monday before the race to drop out. That late most can't get the time off of work or have other plans already made. If you watch the stock and SS page on this website ther are always racers looking for spots in both classes. It is definitely a problem. The super categories rarely fill and seem to be loosing interest in the national and divisional programs. Most of those guys also bracket race their cars. I had to wait to get in at the gators on a drop out at the last minute as a few others like me did.

How about this for you "Class Racers" No class eliminations and Wally's unless your class has at least 6 cars. Might stop all the one-off racing..LMAO........

Once again, this is nothing against bracket racing and in reality doesn't even affect me I get enough grade points to go where ever I want because I actually race instead of trolling message boards looking to disagree with everyone. Its just the principal behind it and if you're too stupid to see it then so be it.

The low quotas are all about money.
The last decade or more NHRA has had a hard time selling the Divisional series to track owners. Why did the alky cars go to a regional format. To lower the cost of a Divisional event... That is why.
The low number Quota and the hi grade points required to get in a National Event is the product of salesmanship. Hi Grade points require participation at Divisional events. That need to participate gives NHRA the tool to sell those events to track owners by automatically guaranteeing more divisional participation. That way the track owner has a large number of participants to pay his expenses. The divisional tracks want bang for their buck. Why do tracks bring in the X275 cars, the Skidders & Bracket racers? A bigger show to advertise and get spectators or get more entry money. It is all about money or as they say "Follow the Money"

Adger has great points here. Track owners do need to survive. They don't need a Divisional race in most cases to make money. In fact, often the divisional series were more risk for them then the benefit. Instead of creating fake demand by limiting quotas too low, maybe they should test more positive ideas to attract us to divisional meets. I think they should consider offering class st some divisional races. Make it class on Friday and charge for it. Doesn't have to be much of a cost, but enough to keep the bean counters at bay. so make it simple. No AHFS Friday class. Race for a class Wally. Make entering class an option only for those entered in the divisonal for the same class.
It would let those that can and want to let it out wide open, do so. The ones that don't ...don't have to. I think it would add to the overall divisional car count.

Hope picture shows up.This is how a Wally can be won these days. Top 10 fastest street car event tonight at AZ Wild Horse Pass. As of right now 10 cars are in the class. Wallys at one time were a honored piece of hardware to get but now they are everywhere and giving out to any class the track sees fit. The value of getting one of these just isn't the same.

Participation trophies? Pro ET on Sunday at the Summernationals is hard to believe. Can`t imagine nitro fans being excited. Hope it helps the track grow.
Class racers, who have been accumulating grade points, chasing casting #`s, trying to stay under the index, 3 and 4 day weekends, missed work days, regional travel, motor homes or hotels, enclosed trailers, golf carts, etc etc.
Can the local NHRA sanctioned track offer more one day S/SS combo races to help growth?
Just sayin...

I can agree, I went to the Va motorsports divisional just to watch Thursday and Friday. Thursday I was the only one in the stands, Friday maybe 50 and they let us in free. Maybe more showed up sat but it rained out. I can see the track owners not likeing just the cars paying. I wonder how much the track gets from each entry fee, if any. I know those two days are not high on the list but they are good for car watching.
