Re: Sunoco fuel at Indy
Plastic jugs should not cut it for transport, someone should make a fire rated container for that purpose. On the fuel Sunoco fix for there fuel was to add lead, look at there spec sheet there fuel weights 1/2 more per gal than vp but with that being said it slows the burn rate down to the point the it does not all burn up leaving residue. This is not the way to make power. Sunoco stance on there fuel is that they want the rules to change for them, sounds like other things going on in our country. Tom

Re: Sunoco fuel at Indy
So how many fuels were remove from the approved fuel list in the off season? I know the fuel I used for the last 2 years was removed, C9 unleaded. I didn't know of this until the first Div race of the year at the first Q run that it was no longer on the list, Had to switch fuels bummed some off buddy's to get me through the race. The next problem was getting approve fuel there are only 2 unleaded fuels on the list VP and Sunnoco but both are not stock by dist so the price is jacked up. Also at the national event in Seattle went to the Sunnoco fuel truck to get fuel for the race and the truck didn't even have any they should be required to carry all the fuel that is on the approved list. Have got a barrel recently it better still be on the list next year. I still have fuel from last year some how I have to burn up.

never a issue all brands were tested years ago and R/B test'd best overall its clean, not hard on parts, and that means more perf, and there's a guy in ocala his name is Garlits he sez the same thing, he's probably worked with more fuel than anyone. just my 2cent's CJ #5 3 time NHRA Record Holder |

I use Rockett Brand 118 racing fuel too and it's hands down the best fuel out their. You never have to worry if your going to pass a fuel check.

I'm a Rocketman. It passes.

Re: Sunoco fuel at Indy
I also found out VP C-9 was removed from the approved list at the Epping points meet - was legal last year but when I fuel checked it wasn't in the book? I checked with National tech the next week and found out that C-9 had been dropped because (Nobody was using it?) apparently several others had been using it last year. I don't find any Sunoco unleaded listed that I can use so I am back to VP C-10 I'm guessing that the Official Fuel supplier doesn't care if a competitor's fuel is dropped!

Re: Sunoco fuel at Indy
I brought Sunoco fuel and stored it in plastic containers that I purchased before the Gator Nats from a local gas station that has the fuel in the ground. The fuel passed fuel check twice at Indy. I have never had a problem with passing with the purple fuel as of yet. When I was at the PRI show back a few years ago, I asked the Sunoco rep. what was the shelf life. He said that it's good for 2 years.

I don't want to change this post but I always wondered what
does VP stand for. |
