Re: Force gets beat--YAHOO
I am not a big Top Fool fan but I can relate a story about John Force being a top notch stand up guy.
I have a close friend who has has a Downs Syndrome daughter. She has the capability of about a 12 to 13 year old and will never be any better. My friend and I went to the Topeka National Event every year since the Topeka track opened in 1989 and took our kids and we both raced the event. The friends daughter Leah loved John Force and would go and stand at the pit line to get his autograph every year. My kids would always go with her and keep up with her in the crowds. After a year or two John knew Leah by name and would then take her and my kids back into the hauler and give Leah a tee shirt or hat with his autograph. My kids usually received something less of which they were very happy. That happened for several years until sometime in the 1990's when John won Funny Car there. Leah had to go to the winners circle and watch John get his trophy. Once the pictures were taken John took the Medal off (when they still gave the medals on the big ribbons) and walked over to Leah and hung it around her neck. Leah became even a bigger fan after that. I also watched John do the same thing to a kid in a wheel chair a few years later. I may not be a big Fan of John's racing but I am a fan of the Man for what he does for kids with disadvantages of all types. He has my Respect..... Just My 2 Cents Rick Cates |

Re: Force gets beat--YAHOO
John Force and his daughters have done so much for this sport how could you say anything bad about him.Is he a great racer yes Is he a good family man yes is he a good businessman Yes Is he the best known dragracer to the public at large yes What am I missing here ? I know the jealousy factor that is all it is.When someone is climbing the ladder everybody is cheering until they get to the top then they all want to see the fall.Well I dont think that man or his daughters will fall and we as racers and race fans should do nothing but applaud all they have done.My 11 year old daughter all on her own with no discussion in our pitts picked out a Force racing jacket in the NHRA store and if she gets it about the Force family maybe others should too. And of all the superstock and stock racing that I and my wife Paula have done we have never met them but we sure appreciate what they do for our sport.

John is a good guy. I just don't care for any of the fuel cars.

Re: Force gets beat--YAHOO
The reason some people are tired of John Force is that any of the TV coverage we see of the events has way too much about the Force clan. He is a good personality but there are way more stories to the race than what they have going on. Out of the funny car guys he is my favorite. I am not a big fan of the fuelers or floppers nitro or alcohol.

I just like him because he works hard at it, never giving up and you can tell he really enjoys it. We should all be so fortunate.

Re: Force gets beat--YAHOO
Whew! What a relief Ed, thought you were saying you were "coming out" if they eliminated Top Fuel. On the plus side though, Obama would give a press conference praising your courage and what a credit you are to the sport and country (which you are anyway of course).
