I thought everybody here wanted the new cars in their own class?
Now, they're in their own class, and....

Pretty sure the problem now is their new class doesn't follow the same rules yet gets to race in the regular elimination.

Incorrect sir...Fred Henson went 8.98 and was #150!
And he wasn't the only one.

The factory showdown deal was fun to watch and made me mad.

Some of the "new" cars got to remove 280# and the index was a tenth quicker. That would be like letting Jimmy DeFrank at A/SA weight race in C/SA without any chance of penalty. Jimmy would go at least 1.40 plus under.

I just have a problem with the factory shootout not the owners.

I had to add 150#

NHRA Factory Stock Showdown in Charlotte

Coming off a stellar event at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, the NHRA Factory Stock Showdown is back in action this week at the Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by Napa Auto Parts.

A special edition of the program will be conducted at zMAX Dragway that will give NHRA Stock racers in FS/AC and FS/DC another chance to compete for the NHRA Factory Stock Showdown title. Chris Holbrook drove his Cobra Jet Mustang to the win over Dave Connolly last week in Indy as 27 racers took place in the specialty event that pits new Cobra Jet Mustangs, COPO Camaros and Dodge Challengers against each other in head to head competition.

The Charlotte event will be the third and final Factory Showdown of the 2013 NHRA season.

not just a Indy thing, may be they should hit their index to bring it more in line

 I guess the showdown is more than an Indy thing now. The top 4 qualifiers in Stock at Charlotte are FS cars and are all at 1.282 under or more. Looks like they should be subject to the 1.20 under rule if they continue to run them at various events. Just my 2 cents, but not worth as much as years ago, haha.

:):) In spite of all that being said, I think the new cars are good for the sport, just make it FAIR for all.

It seems that between Indy and Charlotte, we have a pretty good idea what the FSS combinations are capable of. If these cars were subject to the AHFS, would that be the case? Or would it be a parade of 1000' runs?

Is it possible that NHRA could use what they've learned to adjust rules for next year to make it more fair, and possibly make it a full time class?

How exactly do we use the AHFS to refactor a car that is not classified based on a HP-to-weight factor? Because they're running off of somewhat arbitrary weights, some combinations are lighter than their traditional Stock weight, and some are heavier.

The FSS rules are far from perfect and it's obvious that the indexes are on the generous side. I'm just thinking out loud here.

Good thoughts Nick. It will be interesting to see what NHRA does. Dyno

Very simple you factor the index. If you hit the index, the class competion stays the same noboby gets the advantage. It's done in superstock in the cubic inch to weight categories all the time. And in comp.
