Went to our 1st Winter Nationals in 75 , meet Jay Payne, became friends.His engine man Mike Walker talked to me about big block chevy engines.
Came back in 76 with a new Truppi/Kling engine they had put the wrong can in,ran bad.

ruth & I had went to the Nationals every yr since 62. I lost my leg 6-69 had operationals in 69-70-71 on my left, wanted to run the Nationals once before some thing happened to it.
So J.d> & Ruth said lets get a camaro & run it.
I was standing talking to my friend who ran a gas station asking if he knew of any & I heard one coming down the stret, it pulled in right up to us, it had a for sale sign in the front ,he looked at me & I said "GOD" must have sent it. Just pay it off the guy said,

70's for today before 500 race.
John Dawley then running SS and me on right talking to teck about heads.
John has run Comp with his dragster also.
Ruth had to drive in 73 as I couldn't because of another operation.

Sunday Night some from the 70's.
Meet Paul Rossi at this race became real good friends, as your see when we get to the 80's
Paul Mayo was a great friend ,In fact I called him the day he was killed and his sister told me that he had been hit by a tree he was cutting, I couldn't believe it.
