Re: Kaboom!
6.00s @ 3700 pounds on a 9 inch tire is flat out impressive. Considering those numbers are from Indy with Indy heat in play it's certain these cars will be 5.70 or quicker next year in good air. That is mind bending performance.
ADRL should call the new class 'Pro Modified Stock'. |

Re: Kaboom!
My sentiments exactly, haven't even run the first race yet and people are looking for weight breaks. Hope it works out, i think the class is a great idea on ADRL's part.

Barton pushed the Carp car to the limit instead of *****footing around with it. Maybe if some more Ford guys pushed their stuff and flogged it like he did, it would be closer. Is there anyone with a Ford willing and able to do that? Are the other DP guys willing to go after them? I think the answer will be yes to both, but time will tell. If a racer bought one of the new cars thinking they wouldn't have to beat on it to be competitive, this is clearly not the class to be in. That's ok, too. Just a choice. I know they are a ton of $$$. I don't have one either. I think if Barton and Carp show up, they are the standard for now and something to shoot for. I think that is pretty cool. There are plenty of good cars and racers out there within reach if they chose to work hard enough and race hard enough to try and beat him. I really think that is what will make this class attractive to other racers and fans alike. Racers with the new cars will duke it out and we will see some cars pushed and raced hard instead of clicking them early and jacking around. It can be a very exciting race platform for all. I would hope that some races take place before any real changes occur with factoring. It is hard to determine what is real with all the games that were played at NHRA. The ADRL deal may actually reveal the true potential of these cars. I think it will be a great start to highlight class racing and the new cars! The positive press for a sportsman performance class can help us all if it is supported by other racers and fans. |
Re: Kaboom!
You hit the nail on the head Jim. ' if a racer bought one of these new cars thinking they wouldn't have to beat on it to be competetive' Thats exactly what they did ,go out and get a bogus combo thats is so soft they wouldn't have to put the effort into it that was already put into the traditional combos, then go beat them up as if you really did something. I cant wait till this becomes a real pissing contest and they all start complaining it cost to much

Re: Kaboom!
Then it will be since I can't win I'm not spending any more money and since I can't win I'll just stay home!

Re: Kaboom!
The irony of all this will be if some of the money the manufactures are spending with NHRA go to ADRL. I think that would be interesting turn of events!

Re: Kaboom!
Just will not be the same at the 1000 ft. anymore. Now you can listen to them at full song !

Re: Kaboom!
Bunch of cry babies......When Pro Stock came out in 1970 it wasnt fair (according to the racers) BUT they raced and came anyway. 1970 was the best heads up racing that ever happened with REAL cars, stick shifts, and most races had 30-40 cars trying to qualify. Not today....Its if I cant out run you by XXX tenths Im not going to go and stay home with my toys and whine. Saw it over and over in Top Stock.
