Re: "Live" from Earlville, IA, Division 5 Lucas Oil race
Well it is another great day here in Earlville. We are 4th in the line-up to run this morning, then again for 1st round this afternoon. I haven't run the air yet this morning, but it looked like a LOW over us on the local weather this morning. But super stock has been picking up a little. I have been having problems getting my pics up that I took, but I will post them eventually.
More later. |

94 stockers!
Wow, what a great event! |

Well super stock is running their 1st round now, then super comp, then stock. It is another beautiful day here. Mid 70's, blue sky and a little wind. The air on our run this morning was 2200'.
We are cooking chili after 1st round, so if you are here, come on by. More later. Oh, I finally got a cookie! We went down to look at the ladder and I helped myself to one. Thanks to Bob's girlfriend for making them. They were very good! |

A picture from the bluff behind the lanes shooting down the track. One of the other neat features this track does is that they run a spectator shuttle (hay ride). They will pick up at the gate and deliver you to about the 330' mark of the track.

make sure you stop at Dyersville, IA, home of ERTL and AMT, last time i went out the RV was full of model kits, plus go to field of dreams where "Shoeless" Joe Jackson played ball.
Last time i was there i had to show my drivers licence to prove that was my name also, lol. |
Re: "Live" from Earlville, IA, Division 5 Lucas Oil race
Well for as well as Larry hooked every run up to first round of eliminations, it was that bad for Round 1. We went from a 1.33 in 60' this morning to a 1.43 this afternoon, so needless to say we couldn't run our number. Lots of people spun, even Mike Cotten in his super stock car with 14" slicks. We were more than a little disappointed in the track prep after it got hot this afternoon.
We still stayed for the evening and cooked a big pot of chili and enjoyed the meal with friends. But it would have been more fun, if we were still going to be racing tomorrow. We are getting loaded up tonight and leaving out early in the morning. I will post the pictures I made after I get home. |
Re: "Live" from Earlville, IA, Division 5 Lucas Oil race
Andy has had the worst luck lately
After getting over INDY - he lost with a .003 light (missed the dial) He heads to Earlville - 3 perfect runs 9.69, 9.71, 9.68 - .028, .016, .006 lights Call to first round - car develops bad miss (absolutely no previous hint of a problem) Electronic - nothing to be done All we forgot on this 5000 mile $5000 trip was- any good LUCK at all I hate people saying at least you were there - at least you tried Sorry - disappointment is the feeling of dissatisfaction that follows the failure of expectations to manifest :-) peace |
