Don't blame them. They have enough to do so let's make this fun and efficient. Vote for joe!

x2! Probably won't happen though. Too many don't want them.

It only takes 1 person who insists on time to get his motor down to 40 degrees or simply doesn't like the ladder to muck it up...

Sounds like the whiners are winning. No surprise there.

Jeff, who is whining about the pairings?

Re: Indy Class Pairings

Ed, the rules vary by lane. Most classes really try to have some kind of ladder, either by cards, pills, numbers in a hat, but it's always a rush and the NHRA lane guys are hollering to get to the line. As you are aware there are some real lolleygaggers out there, and pulling numbers, cards etc. is almost impossible since everyone ain't there. There are some professional lollygaggers and also some broke-trying-to-fix, hot-trying-to-kool guys and gals also. So it's a cluster in the lanes. On the other hand, if a ladder is created, say a sportsman ladder, if only one guy don't like his first round draw (cause he don't like the sandbagging, driver, lane, weather etc) , he opts out and it's all over cause he probably got the bad guy and has nothing to lose by whining. Also if a ladder is created such as A/SA and say they got 18 folks running. Say the first round guy wins, but breaks the car, one would think the next round opponent gets a bye. Not so in Sportsman, according to the powers that be. I think the SS/AH guys get special dispensation on that, but I don't think the rest of us lowly guys do. So the ladder is done in round 2. On the odd numbered classes say 7 in the class, most of the time the field designates the bye to the fastest guy. Not always. If the same complaining guy still don't like his draw, then he wants to draw for the bye. And it's early in the morning, there are many more. Ed, you don't quite know lollygagging, since you are normally first.

I've run class at Indy many times. In every case we have drawn numbers and everything works out very well. The new cars will just have to run each other if they draw matching numbers. This poll should be in the racers only section.

I'll be out there and I'll either be in the parents pit area (Scratcher Super class cars) or the Rich South pits as I'll be on the "Over the Hill Ohio Gang" tour again in Bowling Green then on to Indy.
But let me know the night before class and we can have a ladder made.
Like I said before we need to have everybody on same page as when you get to lanes they are not going to wait on us to get you paired up.

Re: Indy Class Pairings

Joe getting everybody on the same page will probably be a huge problem. Generally, the rules state that the racers shall determine the match ups or by flip of a coin if there is any controversy. There are a large number of racers who want to draw a number/card or flip a coin. This ladder discussion is not what it appears to be. I think there has been one instance of a racer not being able to get through the bottleneck in the lanes and missing his class race. With this one exception, the lane crews will not "pull" a lane of class cars out to race until all the cars are accounted for. Also, drawing numbers/cards or flipping a coin in the lanes is part of the excitement of running class.

Ask Bucky about "all being accounted for". They left him in the traffic even though the lane folks had him there.

I didn't mention his name on purpose and his is the only case that I can remember. But it really doesn't have any thing to do with the way we pair cars.
