Gee Ed why all the bitterness today ? Why in the world would you hope the seller took it in the shorts ? And you have no idea what Mr.Johnson's intentions are .These guys took chances - they wrote big checks - its called free enterprise . And they have no idea you exist and arn't wishing them well - nor can they defend their actions whatever they may be - I buy and sell every week at auctions for regular cars and several times a year at collector car events - so try some of your arguments on me . As for others who bought those cars I can't remember any of them ever saying they were unhappy with their purchase ................

"Technically" you are not allowed, but many of the big money sales were simply the owners buying back the cars to keep from dying on them. And yes, there have been lawsuits filed over the shill bidding.

One less for the new car naysayers to complain about then.

Jack I speak my mind.Don't like it don't read it.And I'm having a fin e day.Just because you like to paint everything rose colored doesn't mean we all do,or want to.
There were a bunch of cranky old men back in the 1770's who spoke their minds. There were also some who thought that things were peachy keen. You see what the end result was.
And yes I do enjoy when speculators lose money in the car game because they dictate what the market will be.Regular guys are shut out of this market but I guess that doesn't concern you.
I'll just leave it at that.

Naysayers?Oh you mean the guys with combos that have been worked on for years, only to have them made non competitive by the collusion of two auto makers and a bunch of clueless, greedy little men in California.Ah,now I see.

Ed - I'll defend your right to speak your mind all day long - that being said I have the same right - I didn't paint a rosy picture about the seller or anyone else for that matter - just their right to free commerce .Speculators didn't shut anyone out of the market - those CobraJets are sold new from Ford and nobody gets a deal .If it were affordable to you - well you might have looked at it differently .But since its not you want to pee on everyone else Wheaties .
You must realy hate people like myself who buy cars and real estate to make a living - yes , Ed - make a living doing .......................................something maybe you should try .And I'm sure those guys who were around in the 1770's would approve .Like you would say .......have a nice day ! ! !

Free commerce is a double edged sword. If it's carried out by consumers who need/use the product it works. When people who come into the market just to make a profit they hurt the consumers who need said product, and that includes collector cars.
I don't think Joe racer put that car up for sale, and Joe racer didn't buy it.So my comment stands,"I hope the seller took it in the shorts".
As far as buying/selling real estate I have no knowledge of the standards you go by in your transactions. There are honest brokers and dishonest ones.Same with used car salesmen.Only you know where you fit.In the end you reap what you sow.
The founders of this country set the standard for the way our society is based.Looks like
it's been corrupted by those sworn to uphold it.All in search of the mighty buck.
It's been a nice day.Yesterday I took the raggy old car to a car show in Cherry Hill benefitting a hospice dedicated to serving those who served us,veterans.Good day for all.

And David H.maybe the above will give you an understanding of why I said what I did.I'm not half as negative as you think I am.

A

Double edge sword my *** - its how I choose to make my living - I'm in it for the money besides liking what I do everyday ( six / sometimes seven days/nights every week ) - how can you fault that ? Are you saying that everyday I deserve to "take it in the shorts" ? Sure sounds that way to me ...................And then you talk about standards I go by - sounds a little like you're trying to put some doubt in what I do ..........Go for it Ed - I'm ready to jump in . And yes - the almighty buck puts food on my table .
