1960 318 Fury convertible, 1962 2dr post 361, 1963 2dr post 383, 1965 Sport Fury 426, 1966 273 Barracuda - put a '62 dodge rear end in the 'Cuda with 4.88 (little know fact - same width) with tiny 6.95 blue streak rear tires. We beat every one in town - GTOs with 421s, 409 Chevelles, 400 442s, 426s Dodges and Plymouths you name it. OK I will admit we liked short tracks - like 1000 feet (they never caught on) All except for one '65 Chevelle with a 292 dragster engine in it. My brother got a '66 327/350 hp Chevy II which was a rocket ship (fastest factory street car ever produced in my humble opinion - only weighed 2800 lbs). Maybe that is why I switched. Anyway, after the Army, I was Chevy guy. Won the AHRA PRO GT-3 Championship in 1970 in a financed (Teachers Credit Union) 302 Camaro. Been a Chevy Guy every since. Enough Nostalgia.

I do not have any money - no savings - no property - but I can make payments - I got financing (do not ask how - see a pattern here) - so I am going to do this "old school" - roll the dice and see if I can make this work - my "swan song" so to speak - at least I can leave it to Andy.

I have more guts than most of the limp, lame newbies on here who do not want to see an old broke guy give it one more try.

It is not about wining it is about having fun - I do not make the rules I just play by them

See you soon

:-) peace

Dont you wish you had some of those cars back again !!!!!!!!

Andys Dad, I'm rooting for you, Jeff and all you DP guys. Quite a list of fine folks running them, and don't fault your racing exit strategy. Personally, I'd like to use my 401 such that my final funeral home check bounces but doubt my wife of 35 years would go along with it.

Jared Jordon; you know that "old coot" thing will get back to your grandad, right? He's liable to drop a bowling ball on your foot. LOL

This is pretty good. Now let me tell you about the 392 Blown Car for 2012. Just as soon stir up the whole damn mess. I'm getting a blower kit and put it on a truck just to sell a couple and test it this year. Maybe my blue car would look good with a 392 huffer.

Please pass the popcorn.......................

Well said Charlie !

Well it is a non- profit organization------what do you expect to get paid as a winner with a gazillion dollar stocker ? Fun is getting very expensive !

Here we go again...

I do not EXPECT to get paid a single dime - I do not do this because I hope to recoop my expenses.

I hope to watch my son go very fast - and enjoy myself while I am doing it.

I love this so much and enjoy it so much - I am actually OK with paying and the more fun I have, the more it should cost.

Obviously, some are not ready to admit - it is OK to loose money in drag racing or our hobbies (ski boats, off road vehicles, etc.)

They want to justify what they spend in drag racing by saying they COULD win some small amount someday and the less they have spent the less they have lost.

The point is - almost no one is turning a profit in sportsman drag racing (please do not bore me with the names of the few that do)

Almost every single one of us spend way more money than we win - we do it because we enjoy it.

The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys.

Charlie Allen, it's not a big dick contest. I don't think anybody that drives stock a low 13 second or faster car every day to work and back is going to have much fun racing something that's not faster than that. If you have driven nine second cars a 10 or 11 second, or even slower car is not going to be much fun. That's why we do this, right?
My low ten second car is no thrill, I wouldn't want to race anything slower. Just wouldn't feel like racing. Just because a guy has worked hard and long enough to afford a faster car doesn't mean he wants to measure anything with you. Not many of us do this for a profit. I'm happy for anybody that can afford a newer faster car. As long as the hp rating is close to correct.
