Come on Terry......that's not always true.....we were building a mustang SS car regardless if it was fast....it's a good looking car....and we wanted to try super stock....it took 3 of us to afford it....not to mention an incredible amount of effort...remember we don't care about records....we want race wins.....we've had 1 heads up in 2 years....of course if I could win a few rounds maybe I would have had more...lol
I'm loving it......I just have to get better at it.....

Gene-o, maybe you, me and Bill could form a circle of trust, lol. You know, dyno, test and swap lies(ie speed secrets) to try and stay ahead of the storm that's coming. I've never been much of a complainer. I set personal goals for my combo and myself. Some of them are harder to reach than others, we'll see. But, whatever Ford throws at us, I'll be as prepared as possible....

Enough said...

I run one of those worthless 140hp 307 Olds. When I first stared building the car I was hung up on making it a one second under car. Then they changed the index's, so I decided I would just go race and have fun. I work on my car and try to make it faster each race. But I do realize my combo has it's limits. I know my car will not run with the new Hi Tech cars, but that's life. I will line up against them hold my head up hi and do the best I can and still have FUN.

There ya go guys see how a guy with a real fast car approaches the situation. His car is fast because his number one concern is the performance of his car. Wade is on here generally giving advice not griping.
If a new Mustang tries to outrun Wade it will get itself Horsepower in the process.

Bob, wouldn’t a more constructive approach than complaining about my car be to get rid of your 302 Mustang and get a mod motor one?

Alan why on earth would you run a 140/240hp combo when you can run the 138/213hp combo? I also run a 1988 olds 307 138/213 and it's a good combo(-.95 the new index at the U.S. National this past year). The 140hp motor would haft to be around 225hp for me to even think of running it.

Now back to the main point. This 281ci combo is a rated fair when you compare it with other combos in the same class.
John fisher, Wade owens, Mean Gene, All 74-78 400ci, Doug patrick. Please tell me who would win class if all these cars ran heads up?
You can't tell me a little 281ci mustang is going to out run all these cars by .25.

Looks like Modified production meets Stock eliminator......just say'in. ;)

Question ?
How will tech verify those CNC heads haven't been CNC'd twice ??

The "beauty" of a CNC head is the part can be easily verified once it's in the field. The rest of the package is obviously open for debate.

Jeff, that's true but Ford would need to supply their CNC data so that the $500K checking equipment that NHRA would have to own could check them properly. The guys that really want to go fast would weld up a set of scap heads, hand port them any shape they want to get them flowing nice on the bench, read the port data into one of those 500K machines, and then CNC port a new set. The correct CC would be easy too. This engine should be SS only with ported heads.
