Yes,63,as long as we keep shoe polish on the windows. And I agree with Travis about the young people in super fast street cars. One close to me is a mid 60s corvette that is streetable, street legal and runs mid high 6s-low 7s. Big engine lots a laughing gas.

I posted this to confirm that we pretty much agree that times change,no matter how hard us old timers try to hold on to the past.S/SS is changing, some say for the better some say for the worse. In the end we should just try to enjoy the time we have left trying to go some rounds, win a race, set a record,in spite of the way our sport is being manipulated.
Like the guy with the bald head standing on the box says: Let's race................................

Yes 66 How many remember racing on active airports without towers or communication. The plane buzzed the track, the racing shut down, a large flag was waived, the plane landed and taxied off, back to racing. You gotta love it.

Yes, 63.....And I ran at the old Orange, Mass. airport, a sanctioned 1/4 mi. NHRA strip, run by the New England Timing Assoc., which was still a active multi-runway airport at the time, although no planes were using the same strip on the Sundays we ran, sometimes sport parachutists would land on or real close to the track, holding things up at least once or twice during a event....Tasca Ford's F/X Thunderbolt, along with many other heavy-hitting GM, Chrysler, and Ford dealer- sponsored -east coast stock and superstock teams ran there often....Orange drag strip has been gone since the mid-late 60's, but it's still a fully operating, quite busy airport, w/a number of long runways... Anyone here remember it? ;)WJ
