So the ford guys think it's OK to rate the 2010 less than the 2008, then why is a 396/375 rated at 399hp iron head in a 1967 thru 1969 camaro, also the same rating in a nova and also the same in a chevelle witch by the way aint fair for thoses guys. Come on tell me why

They seem to fit better in SS in the IHRA.

Just my observation

Had a convertible run stock last year at US 131 Michigan. Stick car and dipped into the 9's .No complaints from any racer .

Uh.......correct me if I'm wrong 'cause I'm just a lowly FoMoCo guy, but wasn't the 396/375 originally rated at 425 HP by GM?

I guess it was OK for them to drop 50 HP without changing anything but the oil filter. LOL

Did I read somewhere here awhile back that said that all '08 and '010 CJ's w/iron block motor will now run AA/S, and that the 475 rated all-alum block '010 Super CJ is to run SS/B, or did I dream that? Please correct me if needed....WJ

Actually, the 396/425 was a 65 Corvette engine, with a different carburetor, among other things. If you look in the blueprint guide, there's a difference in the cam as well.

Carb is the same size.
Cam is a touch larger on the 396/375.
Big deal?
It was still 425HP and then GM reduced it to 375 "playing the game".
Insurance and sanctioning body game that is.
If I had a nickel for every chebbie friend I had as a kid that owned a 396/375 anything and bragged about how it is really a 425 HP I would be a wealthy man. :p

As they say down south - the sun never shines on the same dog's ***** all the time. 15 years from now the guys whoopin' on everyone now will be upset because someone else is using new technology to scream down the track faster than they can.

Rofl.....I cant wait to see everyones face when the Camaro 3.5's get changed over and are running 500hp+ on a 6 then VVT and DI will be lamented. New technology that will give you a heart attack.

I would LOVE to build one next (a camaro 3.5) LOVE to......

I told the old man when the DP is running fast in a month or two we need to stop at Sams club and buy an economy sized thing of Kleenex single packets to hand out to all the people crying.

Two comments were made on that, 1 half the people whining and crying dont and wont even be racing in competiton with these DP and CJ's and the second, the same people complaining would run one in a heartbeat and not give a rats *** about their own objections if Ford or Mopar gave them one to run...

Glad its not the DP's and me being derided for a change....lol

The cars are what they are and bitching won't change that.

Just like every new combination, in a while the HP will hit them and sooner or later the HP will be more realistic.

This is the way it's been since '64 when I started. All the manufacturer's always fudged on HP ratings and sooner or later it came out all right.

Personally I think both the Dodges and CJ's should be in SS due to the limited no.'s made and the fact that they were never produced in that exact version for the street.

These cars should follow the same path as the '68 Hemi A bodies, the '65 A990 cars, the '64 aluminum Hemi cars, '64 Z11 Chevys, etc, all went straight to SS.

Will these cars hurt or help Stock.....naw, only we can effect the eliminator not the cars.
