Re: Cars with Names

I remember back in the Cajun National days there was a 28 ford coupe named the Hee-Haw. That thing was wicked when it left. It usually twisted the frame every race or so.

Re: Cars with Names

The "California Dreaming II" 55 Chevy ran at my home track in the early eighties. It was an absolute show car and would never have been raced if it were mine. The car was stolen and never recovered that I know of.

Re: Cars with Names

I started racing in the early seventies and car names were very popular at that time.It was a track requirement to " Have your car professionally lettered".

Mine was a white Camaro named "Shake & Bake" but I do remember some others:

Stevie's stripper
Moon Raker Nova
Coal Dust
Spellbound
Big Brother
Joe Shane's Joke
the Slugger
The starwarship
No big thing
Novacain
Odds & Ends
Marshal Law
The Loose Caboose
Uncle Louie
Hard Times
Short Time
The Undertaker
Bad Co
Snow Blind
Hang em high
Godzilla
Brown's Eye
I also got my but wipped in a super comp final by a dragster named "Incognito"
I also had some friends who named thier dragster "Situational Ethics"

I really miss that colorfull side of the sport!

How about my '67 Buick GS400 "Animal Eater" with a real Stage II Buick 455 that ran 10.90's prepared by none other then James Antonette (before he was JA Performance). The car ran at national Speedway in the 70's. I would love to know who has the car now!

Pete, that was my brothers brand new 1965 GTO (that he still owns) named after the song with the same name applied to the car with shoe polish.

Ok, we still have the bracket racing "Pouncing Pony" 67 Mustang. Maybe one of these days we'll dust it off and get it out of the garage and back to the track.
