Re: Mustang MPH?
I have been told that the stock OEM pulley with the correct tooth count and part number must be used on the new Ford. As far as the turbos, I have been though many tear downs and can tell you NHRA has all the specs they need to check the housings and cartridges. They check both wheel diameters and for clipping. The turbo must be completely stock as produced with the correct make and part number. Jim

Re: Mustang MPH?
What's funny about these boosted cars, and I know we are beating this issue again into the ground, is that as you keep loading these vehicles down weight wise they will get faster. The CJ's, no matter how they get weighed down, if the chassis is set up right they will not slow down. Break parts, yes, slow down, no.

Re: Mustang MPH?
It looks like the "blank check" has already been cashed. The current AA/SA record holder has never posted a 109.80 mph figure in the 1/8 mile. And this is only the second race for these cars.

Re: Mustang MPH?
Jim W,
Respectfully, who gave you this info on the pulleys? Why is it that everyone has all this information and no sources to back it up. Hearsay is CRAP! This must be a really smart person who fed you this because they don't know the first thing about late-model supercharged vehicles. The CJ does not use a cogged blower drive, so there are no teeth to speak. Have fun counting those teeth! This goes for the drive pulley, or the driven pulley as the blower is driven by a serpentine belt with a sprung tensioner. Furthermore, the rulebook states "aftermarket pulleys permitted." It currently says nothing about pulleys used to drive blowers, nor does it state anything on NHRA.com. Where do you people get this information from? Please, I know many of you are bothered by the CJ, but if you are going to come on here and post, at least properly inform yourself in order to sound intelligent about the topic and list facts backed up with a legitimate source. Only then will you be taken seriously. And who is "loading them down with weight." Simple physics, a lighter object can be accelerated quicker than a heavier one. Evan |

No Evan, your wrong. They're fords, therefore they defy the laws of physic's and logic, they are evil, EVIL I TELL YOU! They have special cogged serpentine belts which add hp! I heard they put a cj engine in a dumptruck to "load it down" and it went 9 flat!! THEY"RE EVIL! EVIL I TELL YOU!!!! THE VIN NUMBERS ALL START WITH V FOR VOODOO!!! MUHAHAHAHAHA, YOU ALL WILL NOW SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES!!! Seriously, this has been beat to death will logic and constructive input. Now it's just demonizing them. There is nothing left to add so others will "I heard" or "I think". Again, it's all ford bashing and sour grapes unless the uproar is levelled against the turbo dodges/etc too. |

Re: Mustang MPH?
Evan,
With all due respect, and I have known you for a long time, you shouldn't come out here and cherry pick these threads and hammer people. You know a lot about these cars but you have chosen brand loyalty over offering the Stock racers any clarity on this issue. I know you are wearing many hats, writer/editor for a Mustang magazine, Mustang racer, SRAC member etc., but take a look at what is going on with this mess. In addition, the FRP folks are unwilling to publish any performance data on the new CJs - is there any wonder that misinformation becomes a problem? You could do all the racers a serious favor by posting some honest numbers on these cars before others do it. This is a hot story and many folks are very curious about the real performance of these cars. Right now, it looks like Ford has pushed a ringer into the regular Stock classes. On their second outing, the CJs are out performing the best cars in the country. One of the members from the Ford camp in Phoenix said they have not tried to push the cars yet. We are a small community of people and we need answers. Thanks. |
