Yeah, a set of Manley rods will be attached to those CP pistons when I locate a set.

May have located a set of CP pistons from a forum member. Another slightly tech question - There are about 8 different Manley rods (large journal) listed in the S/SS blueprint sheet...anyone have the spec's on these rods or know which one I should be considering for this engine? (14101, 14350, 14201 ?) I'm thinking Manley 14101 would be the best bang for the buck here.

Those 14101 sportsman rods will work fine for you.

I used them in my late model LT-1 Stocker engine.

Rich, the Manley #14101 (14101-8 for a set) is the one you'll want. The Manley catalog claries things better than the NHRA accepted list: http://www.manleyperformance.com/master_catalog.shtml

Thanks guys - That's the rod I will go with then. I may have the car back together in time to make a couple of end of year races. The plus side is the car will finally have some much needed fresh paint.

Back and forth between motor work and paint/body work...this weekend it is paint and body.

Took a razor blade to the doors to avoid having to deal with all the decal glue residue...didnt take too long as the paint was not adhered to the door panels very well to begin with.

I managed to get the front clip pieces along with the deck lid in shape today and I went ahead and painted the backside of all the parts. I have decided I will re-assemble the car and paint it as a whole...will make it much easier to color match all the panels and I won't have to worry with gouging/scratching finished surfaces.

Tomorrow I will detach the inner fender liners and freshen those up with paint. I'll then go ahead and assemble those to the fenders so I can make a straight shot re-attaching the assemblies.

This won't be a show car finish, but I will take the time to block outside surfaces. I went with the Sierra Fawn color in single stage so I can wet color sand and buff when finished. I know the base/clear would have been lighter, but I just have never been able to master laying down clear. On the plus side if it gets any gouges, dings or scratches I can easily repair them myself with this system. Another full day planned for Sunday...:rolleyes:

Lots of rain today and didnt do any spraying. My partner got ambitious and figured out how to remove the window trim and door felts so that part is out of the way. Seats are out and will be re-covered soon. My next project will be on the inside of the car taking apart the dash once more...going to need matching paint in the interior, right? That will be a weekender for sure with all the masking and detail work...hopefully I will get the door jambs/threshholds done at the same time. Oh yeah...removed the fuel cell so we could paint the trunk which has up to this point only been in primer.

Consensus - Black tail or not? If I remember correctly these were a matte black finish???

It sure is a sobering reality when "down on power" is the problem ,good luck with the freshen up!
