Re: Live from Indy!!!
Thanks for the Report from Indy Mr. Larry and Mrs. Patsy! There are almost 20,000 views for the thread.
That is outstanding. I am probably 100 or so of those. Cooter |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
This is great thankyou Patsy for all the updates.

Re: Live from Indy!!!
Don't know much more than earlier. I want to thank Mr. Larise (sp?) for the wonderful jambayla, pork chops and sausages for dinner. These guys really know how to cook and party. Complete with disco ball, music, fog and bubbles. They are pitted behind us so it's a good thing we don't have to do anything tomorrow. I doubt we get much sleep. It's cool enough to turn off the generator and sleep with the windows open, but that probably won't be possible. Anyway, the food and hospitality were great.
Went down to congratulate Steve Wann and John Shaul. They both did a great job in class. And neither have to tear down. Talked to Buckner also. He has to pull a piston. Edmond Richardson said he only has to pull a head. He did not win class either. Looks like this year they did not get just class winners. I think that is good. I will make a report after we go over to the barn in the morning. Looks like the bump right now is Welker at -.914. But that all depends on how teardown goes. More tomorrow. Patsy |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
How about john wining A/SA and steve winning E/SA two very hard, and smart working people. Now if I can only get past the semi's I think I may have something for both of them, a handshake and a nice cool bottle of water. Great job by both.

Re: Live from Indy!!!
What does "class win" pay?
Inquiring minds want to know. And by the way, thanks for the reports and updates. It's not as good as being there but it's better than we could hope for. |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
quick question, how are the rd 1 bye runs being determined for the class elims. I thought it was the best qualified car but I see that isn't the case here.
-steve |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
As far as bye runs for class, it usually depends on what the racers agree on. Sometimes it's lowest qualifier, sometimes its a coin toss. Theres nothing really engraved in stone.

Re: Live from Indy!!!
patsy looks like my "new" car comes apart too! Charley Downing told me Jimmy was on "the list"! Damn! the motor only has 9 passes on......hope Bruce Parsons is around to make sure it goes back togather right.....:(.... as far as charley ...that is a new engine too...the frist pass on it was @ Maple Grove!!

Re: Live from Indy!!!
Last year at the Sports in Columbus there was some discusion of who wanted to run who in F/SA and agreement was not possible. The Div.2 Director intervened and spoke very clearly "Low qualifer gets the bye and if you dont do it that way hit the highway".
The last few years in the class that I have been at Indy low qualifer gets the bye and the rest draw cards to finish the pairings. If a bye was necesary later the fastest car got it that had not had a previous single, and cards finished the pairings Larry |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Thanks Larry and Patsy for the great job!
Larry, I remember that little F/SA debate in the lanes at Columbus and you have it right on the money. I believe the Div. 2 Director called it a mandatory Sportsman courtesy. It sure brought a quick end to the debate. |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Here's the report from the tent: You want to be in the tent because there you only have to pull a head. In the 1st session we have: Downing, Disinger, Goins, Freeman, Zink, Marshburn, Gere, Patrick and Hanlon.
And on the other side of the barn: You don't want to be here because that means you are pulling a piston: Buckner, Harrison, Byrd, Bennett, and deservingly so--Pendarvis. As Pouciau was loading up the golfcart to go to do the teardown, we were driving by in our golfcart and Larry said to him "Now see if you can get it back together so you can race in 4 hours." Well be driving by and seeing how long it takes! Round 1 of class for superstock has started to be called up, so we are going up to watch. Found out that 1 of the oildowns yesterday was Maxwell. He got his $250 fine worth--the entire length of the track. More later. Patsy |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Oh, Larry made me up a press pass for this morning. And Travis even gave us permission to go in the teardown area!
Patsy |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Larry just came back and said Mopar came thru and gave everybody in teardown a little package with Brake Clean, etc. Hey thanks, Mopar!!
|
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Hey Larry! Can you transfer that pass to Paul booster? I'm sure he would be a very special guest in the barn. I'd like to set him up with a comfortable leather recliner and a case of his favorite beer. Make sure he is within spiting distance of his buddy too. Man I felt bad that you ripped of that incredible run 10.78 and still lost..very bummed.

Re: Live from Indy!!!
Here are some pics from the barn at Indy. They were taken from a cell phone, and emailed to Class Racer.

Re: Live from Indy!!!
Here is a couple of minutes more. I have to go back to work now. Maybe more later since this seems to work. I don't have any video from the Thursday morning 1st qualifier. I didn't get the track in time.

Re: Live from Indy!!!
Patsy, all that great Cajun food and entertainment probably came from Ross Laris of LA. His name is pronounced Larise, as you stated before. He runs a real nice topless vette in S/G, and a dragster in S/C. I met him in Houston as they were pitted across from me. Talk about a party, they had these huge speakers and they were blaring, then all of a sudden it got real quiet and everything was gone. Spoke to him the following day and his response was, " we party hard and we close down hard"
Ross is the person who puts on the crawfish boil at the Cajun Sportsnationals. Look up his friend Jerry Virgadamo while you are there, he does the best impersonation of a Pro Stock bike you have ever heard. All of the people that I have met from LA are just great, and they all know how to cook great too. Thank you for all the updates, they are just great. Ron Ortiz U/SA I predicted -.92 in a previous thread |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
We left the party about 10 and just turned up the A/C so we didn't hear anything. I understand the police were called about midnight by some racers a couple of pits down. It will be interesting to see how things go tonight.
Just went back by the barn. Looks like Bob Gere is out. Not for sure for what. Patrick is still pleading his case. Edmond Richardson was sitting back eating lunch while someone else was tearing his down. Buckner's engine previously belonged to Mitch Kight and Mitch said to put on here that "that cheating Mitch Kight passed again". Teardown is going really slowly with the tech guys having to go check things out whenever superstock class is running. Barton is the only other car having to pull a piston this session and Edmond and David Morgan are the only other cars to pull a head. There seems to be some ? on Downing, Disinger and Hanlon. They are all awaiting a decision. Pendarvis passed but there was something going down on his engine. So they decided to put his spare engine in. NHRA said ok, but that engine has to pass teardown, too. (By the way, they did not get it back together in 4 or 5 or 8 hours.) Well, we will let you know more later. |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
personally i think that is a bunch of sh**! he should be made to put it back together before allowed to run in the eliminator! That is part of tear down take apart and put it back together before first round!! sorry dont know this gentleman but this just sounds wrong! I dont race much anymore but if and when I do I will have a complete engine ready to put back in if I ever have to pull a piston at the track!!!
It is a shame that every racer doesn't have this luxury!!!! |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Larry/Patsy,
Who is running the barn this year? Thanks |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Does anyone know what happened to Grossi 1st round of class and Cour 2nd round? Grossi showed no reaction time and a 20 second pass and Cour was a no show for 2nd round.
|
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Just made a trip back to the barn. 3 are out so far. Patrick for cc's, Gere for valve, and Downing for piston ring land.
Pendarvis decided to fix his engine instead of tearing down his spare. (wonder why?) Still there waiting for tech to finish them up are Barton, Richardson, Morgan, Goins, Freeman. I think everyone else are either putting back together or already pulled out after passing. Trying to figure out where the bump is now is nothing else changes. I think it will be Wendy Caliendo. The final won't be out for a while yet when everyone gets passed or thrown out. |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Frank Grossi was to cold for the run did not leave the line. This was information passed along to me
|
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Bruce,
I really don't know who was running it. Wayne and Travis plus a bunch of other guys were there. I heard that Gracia made the final decision on the 3 heads that were in question. Patsy |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Lil Joe & Jim Pancake in the SS/AH final. Two Chrysler Dealers. That's gotta be a first.
|
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Jeff,
What happened to teh Wescott's? Both won round 2 then neither in round 3. Plus Joe and Bucky run each other in 3rd and 4th round? |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Does anyone know what happened to the Westcott cars in round 2 of Hemi Shootout...
Patsy, I think Wendy won class C/fia so she should be in anyway Right ??? Keep, up the great job you guys are doing...Its almost like being their, but 1/2 the cost !!!! thanks, Dave...1033/stock(RV-455) |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Lil Joe red-lit to Houser in rd4 it's Houser and Pancake in the final,
|
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Guess I read the results and got excited. Oh well, it was a good race.
|
Re: Live from Indy!!!
I read the same results too Jeff, but they had just deleted that round on DRC.
Greg |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Can't get any info. DRC is down. Nobody from Louisiana is answering the phone. Larry Hill ain't answering. Maybe the problem is on this end. Maybe I need some Summer's Eve or something.
|
Re: Live from Indy!!!
Yes, Wendy did win class, but I was showing she was also the last qualifier.
But I was just back at the barn and somehow Bob Dennis had something to do with Patrick getting back in. Only people still having things checked are Barton and Goins. Looks like everybody else is good except for Gere and Downing. Unless something changes again! Patsy |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
We are not up in the stands watching, so I called Jeff McKinney who is. He said it is Pancake and Houser left.
Patsy |
Re: Live from Indy!!!
In the Hemi-shootout--Houser with an 8.65 beat Pancake's 8.70.
