Still had a good time at Indy...Both EF/S cars faced off later, and we both missed the BIG GO, BIG SHOW later...But my Nat. Record is still up, and I WILL RETURN TO INDY faster next year. I met a lot of the fastest slow car builders around....Billy, Brent, Ron, Claude and others.. great people! I met Ken yesterday finally, Jim Marshall this morning (Met Pi and his Fast Copo with his .026 vs my uncharacteristically very late for me .045 at VMP yesterday too just before the skies opened up and it poured down rain again....he took me down by just about what I gave him at the tree...it was a good race he good by.008, me good by .005 and side by side, him a slight bit in front. My failure was not grabbing the coffee or soda and late afternoon racing. Win or lose, I am travelling, and having the time of my life! This current trip is over 8K miles, and 50 days...only 1 (maybe an early Thanksgiving dinner w/familly as racing in Vegas again that week), weekend off between time I left home, to Dec 1, 2025...and coast-to-coast. class racing and brackets combined. And I have the best and most supportive wife in the world...I love you Celeste! Like Jim Marshall said this morning...We aren't getting any younger Gary..though it makes me feel younger to stay this busy having fun! |

These trips are like the old days in the 80's when I went to Florida for a month of racing each winter! And while our boys and my wife were all earning multiple degrees for well over 2.5 decades I sat out...I longed to get back to camping out at the track and traveling/racing again. Lots of seat time. A little racing in the dark would be great though for this night owl though stuck in a day racer's life....I come alive after dark. (Maybe somewhere between this coast and the other I may find a bracket race on a week night along the way...so, if you know of a place between VA and SC, or SC and OK, or nope...OK to CA is a straight drive through to make that Home Div. Race(s). Then on to Div. 7 Bracket finals in Phx. (Maybe even 1 night in my own bed...then Dallas....and more. |

Don't know if it is just me, but I don't see the dial-ins on live timing or the tv feed screen, anyone else see that ?

1 more thing I need to add about VMP...has anyone noticed the reflection of the cones waaaay down the track that appear to be at the finish line (at least until you approach it), it was messing with my brain a bit in bright sunshine.
I will ask Ken to resize the 2 pic's I have or breakout the laptop and do it myself to post them.it was just a weird observation that I have never seen before at any track. (Too big to post currently). |
