Billy,
As you probably know, I'm a die hard Mopar guy and even I take issue with the some of the hoods I see on Plymouth and Dodge cars.
I was shocked it was enforced for the Camaro two years ago based on the other bogus crap allowed in Stock classed cars.
My pet peeve is, why isn't relocation of the battery allowed for all, based on how liberal the rule book is today?

I believe the 69 Corvette 350 did not come with a domed hood of any type.The 70 350 LT1
had a shorter domed hood with LT1 emblems per side,which was the same as the low hp 454.The 68-69 L88 hood was taller,you could put a tunnel ram under it lol...So I would say no to the L88 hood or any factory domed hood on a 69 SB Vette.. gsa612

Since the subject of stock hoods has been brought up, when did NHRA allow original hood latches to be removed and replaced with hood pins? I agree that a few cars came from the factory with only hood pins but not as many types as are showing up in Stock and S/S today.

The rulebook still says full stock hood including latches, hinges, springs, brackets, and braces as originally produced must be retained. Super Stock reads the same way.

My cousin has an un-restored '69 Vette with a 350 and it has a flat hood.

Hi Frank,
I would comment that if you want a rear battery only, then one should get a race edition Mopar, a Thunderbolt, or a W30 Olds, among others.
There is just too much of this .."He's got it . I want it too. "
That's not how Stock is supposed to work.
More importantly, there is too much listening to this jive , by tech.

Darren Smith runs the stock steel hood.....never saw a glass hood on it.

Never saw a 440/6 in it either......4 Brl. only as I remember.

I am pretty confident about this......I just hauled it 1/2 way across
the country and got a pretty good look at it!

Well,how much ET is a hood latch worth?
A racer rolls up to the lanes for tech and takes his hood off,or pulls out a broom handle to hold it open. Our tech guys in D4 would turn you around and most likely tell you to never come back .LOL..

Probably not a lot........... unless you put it with your missing front bumper brackets, the aluminum radiator, master cylinder, water pump, light-weight aftermarket brakes (safety first!), chemically enhanced (or aftermarket) front fenders and hood (minus the latch), oh and your plastic dummy battery in front to go with the real, relocated battery in the trunk. And I almost forgot the super lite front wheels (with the SFI tags) that crack when you turn corners.
Probably an easy couple of hundred pounds that you can stuff in the trunk. Make sure it's legally mounted! Safety first!!!
